Details
Add authentic flavor to your international dishes with this seedless sour tamarind pulp! Tamarind is a tropical fruit that's beloved for its tart and sour flavor. Though tamarind is native to Africa, it has become an essential ingredient in cuisines from every corner of the globe and is now grown in tropical climates around the world. Tamarind comes in sweet and sour varieties, though these are really just designations of ripeness; sweet tamarind fruits are fully mature with a sweet flavor, while this sour tamarind fruit is less ripe and offers a more tart flavor. This product comes from fruit that is expertly shelled and de-seeded, then pressed into uniform 14 oz. blocks. This product saves time and effort over preparing your own whole tamarind fruit, and it's minimally processed to preserve the deliciously tart tamarind flavor! This bulk supply of 50 blocks of tamarind pulp is perfect for high-volume establishments and will keep your busy kitchen well stocked with this specialty ingredient.
To use this tamarind, remove the amount your recipe calls for from the block, place it in a bowl, then pour boiling water over it and allow it to soak until softened, 15-30 minutes. Once it is soft, press the tamarind through a sieve with the back of a spoon to remove any fibrous threads and any leftover seeds. Now your tamarind paste is ready to use! Tamarind is high in tartaric acid, which gives it a sour flavor and also makes it excellent for tenderizing meat (tamarind is a primary ingredient in Worcestershire sauce for this reason). Whisk it into marinades for thick or tough cuts of red meat to help improve their texture before cooking. Tamarind is also a primary ingredient in spicy Indian dishes, where it's often paired with coconut milk to reduce its sour flavor. Use this tamarind block to create tamarind chicken curry, or mix it into sweet chutneys to add bright flavor to these sweet sides. Tamarind is also a popular ingredient in Thai cooking - its an essential element of pad thai sauce and other quintessential Thai dishes! Tamarind is also widely used in Latin and Caribbean cuisines. With this tamarind block, you'll be able to create flavorful dishes from around the world that will keep your customers coming back for more!
