Yes this scale is expensive. I've bought cheaper ones, but you really do get what you pay for. This has a built in rechargeable battery and is very well made. It should last much longer than the cheaper ones I've tried in the past

With its durable stainless steel body and built-in rechargeable battery, the Edlund EDL-10 OP digital scale is the portable portion control solution for your sandwich shop, pizzeria, or deli. Portability is just an option, though, as a standard AC adapter is also included for normal use.
This highly customizable scale is easy to program and has up to six available capacity display options. Stainless steel exterior and interior housing plates provide moisture resistance to prevent corrosion, making cleanup quick and easy.
Its oversized 7" x 8 3/4" stainless steel weighing platform provides ample space for adding toppings to side orders, hoagies, personal pizzas, or even garnishing salads. Four adjustable feet with bullseye leveling underneath the platform ensure an even base. The battery has a 12-hour charge time, and an 80-hour charge life.
