Details

Keep your freshest fruits, vegetables, and sauces preserved with the regular mouth lid and bands for Choice canning / mason jars. This lid and ring can tightly seal your regular mouth canning jars to preserve the contents against contamination. To prepare your lid for sealing, place it in a pot and cover it with water. Bring the water to a simmer (180 degrees Fahrenheit / 80 degrees Celsius) for 10 minutes before using which will to activate the sealing compound. When heated during the canning process, the soft sealing material on the underside of the lid seals in freshness and prevents oxygen and bacteria from entering the jar. The included ring holds the lid securely in place during the canning process and helps to hold the lid in place for temporary, unsealed storage after the seal has been broken. The lid's long-term soft sealing functionality is single use only. However, the band can stand up to multiple uses and should be handwashed.

The lids were fine. They don't seem to self-center as well as name brands, but if you're careful putting them on, there's no problem with them. I had 108 seals out of 108, and would buy the lids again. The RINGS, however, are TERRIBLE! Getting them cross-threaded or crooked seems to be a real problem. With about one out of every eight rings, I finally gave up trying to screw it on and threw it away. The rings are supposed to be the easy part, guys! EVERY standard canning jar has the exact same threads, so I have never had any problem screwing a ring onto a canning jar, no matter how I might be mixing jar and ring brands... until now. I still have more than 50 of these unused, and am stongly considering just pulling out the lids and Read More

I do a lot of canning as I have a sauce business. I'm doing about 2,000 jars a year. I decided to try these lids and bands . I did 60 jars yesterday and 10 did not seal. When they come packaged with the lid in the band already, even that is hard to separate. I wouldn't buy these again for the quantity of canning I do.

Got these because regular Ball lids were unavailable. They do not make much noise when sealing but do seem to seal consistently. Do not know if the seals last, this is my first year using them.

I wasn't too sure about these canning lids at first. I've had many bad experiences with Chinese goods. I have to say that I'd buy them again, if I can't find any made in the USA. They are a bit tricky at first. Finger-tight takes on a whole new meaning. First, make sure the lid is well-centered on the jars. The must be perfectly centered; not at all off-center, as there is no room for error. Then, give the ring a spin onto the jar. Barely, and I do mean barely, make the ring finger tight. When you unload the canner or pressure canner the rings will be completely loose. Anything tighter doesn't seem to seal well.
