It's also great because the base is heavy enough that it won't slide around on most surfaces, Ours is typically stored on a wooden sideboard but has also been stored on our stainless steel prep table without sliding around.

In general, melamine is not microwave or oven safe. You can use a commercial dishwasher to clean your melamine items; however, top-rack only is recommended for residential dishwashing units.
