Seems to work OK, the Avamix this matches up to has a plastic gear that meshes with this. Some of the internal gearing seems to be plastic so I would not recommend this for mixing any super viscous foods, the unit is quite tall so if you're not using this to mix large amounts of liquids (6+ quarts) it would very impractical to use. This is type of construction is just fine for liquids and some semi-solid foods.
