Ateco 273 Russian Ball Tip Piping Tip

I use this unconventionally. I use an airbrush with food dye to create unique looks on cookies. Aim the airbrush into the well, and spray around the negative areas. Tip is sturdy and well built.

So I've never piped icing before, and the 275 Russian Ball Tip seemed like it'd be an "easy" one to start out with. Not the case. I bungled my cupcakes, and probably should have gone with a open/closed star instead. Quality is great though, even if my skill is not yet up to par for using something this fancy.

fantastic piping tips are definitely a time saver. it is really fun to use and you can create fabulous designs and make your cake look very professional and you can use this on your little cupcake too.

Cute swirly buttercream design. Comes out smoothly and easy. Best if you turn the piping bag along with your piping, so you can have the complete swirled look with a pretty finish.

This russian tip is excellent for quickly piping flower patterns onto cupcakes or around the edges of layer cakes. Another tip can be put in the center to make a more complex shape.

Okay so first things first this russian tip makes a very pretty design. on the down side the tip was a bit difficult to fit into the pastry bags i use. make sure they are tightly secure in your bag. the first time i used this it was not and it easily slid back up into the bag mid project. really a fun tip, i personally need more time working with it to perfect!

Chose this smooth sided ruffle ball tip so I would have an assortment of different tip varieties. Quick and easy was for a lot of coverage fast or very quick work of cupcakes. Best to have something to fill center.

Russian ball tips create a unique ruffled-style frosting that's difficult to get with any other tips, but I have a bit of a love/hate relationship because it can be difficult to control how the frosting comes out & it's very difficult to get a consistent ruffle each time. They also leave an unsightly hole in the middle, so it's best to use this tip when your cupcakes will have some sort of bigger garnish (like a strawberry half) to cover up the hole. Still, the look of ruffled frosting piped using this tip is charming enough, even when each one looks slightly different, that it's worth putting up with the frustrating aspects of using it.

Very fun tip. Creates a fluffy ruffle. I use these when I want to add a large topper, as they give a nice space for truffles or cookies, etc to sit.

These were a hit for a special order of 8 dozen Easter cupcakes. They were easy to work with and the results were just what I was looking for.

This tip is huge! If you want to decorate a cupcake you will have to pipe out a lot of cream on in to make a nice shape. The middle of the design ends up empty unless you keep turning your arm/turntable. Was not my favorite but it is good quality

Very pleased, used for intended use. Sturdy and durable, easy to clean. However, we would prefer that the factory sticker not be placed directly on product, as the adhesive is difficult to remove.

Makes a nice swirl for cupcakes. I did open up the slots with a knife to get a little bit of a fuller ruffle. But over all like this tip a lot.

Russian tips!!!! Is the very next way to bake & look like a professional overnight. WOW!! I used this tip to use on my red velvet cupcakes. It was very easy to use with a slight twist of the wrist.
