Today we're going to show you how to season cooking pans. Pan seasoning is essential to any food service operation, as it keeps your pans from rusting and your food from sticking to the pans. Seasoning cooking pans saves you time and money. We'll show you how to season five different types of cooking pans in this video. A cast iron skillet, a carbon steel fry pan, a carbon steel wok, a tin-plated pan, and a hard coat aluminum pan.

How to Season a Pan

For a carbon steel pan, start by washing, rinsing, and drying the pan. Heat the pan on your range on medium to high heat, then add shortening to the pan. Use a clean dry towel to spread the shortening around the interior of the pan, creating an even coat. Remove the pan from the heat, wipe out the excess shortening and let it cool. You can repeat this process up to 3 more times. For a cast iron skillet, preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking pan with aluminum foil and set aside. Wash, rinse, and dry your skillet. Place the skillet in the oven for 15 minutes. Remove and coat the entire skillet with shortening, inside and out. Place the skillet in the oven for 45 minutes with the baking pan on a rack below it to catch any mess. You can repeat this process up to three more times.

    i love the height of these. i use them alot when baking my cakes that are going to be filled with jam. i am able to cut one cake into 3 layers
    This pan is fantastic. Very durable and strong. My cakes came out flat and perfectly baked. I will soon be replacing all of my cake pans with this brand - can't beat the quality for the price!

    This American Metalcraft 3814 14" x 3" Aluminum Round Cake Pan is super. Even though its so large, the pan still bakes evenly and cake slides right out after baking!
    This is a very good quality cake pan. The aluminum is thick enough to not bend. I had to make a large birthday cake and I only regrets I didn't buy 2, I wouldn't have to slice the cake.

    American Metalcraft 3814 14" x 3" Aluminum Round Cake Pan are very durable and bake evenly. This is great for large cake the height work while with a tier cake.
    This cake pan is of excellent quality, about double the thickness and weight of the same size Wilton brand cake pan.. For me, this means it won't dent as easily (which is great when you drop everything!). I have also noticed that the sides of my cakes are much lighter with this pan, leading me to believe that the thicker quality of this pan is helping the cake bake more evenly rather than the slight crispy sides I'm used to! Very happy with the price, value, and purchase, and would recommend this pan!
    The price of this pan is wonderful! Comparing prices with Wilton, the price at Webstaurant beat the price...hands down! The quality is very good. I actually will purchase another set of these pans soon!
    American Metalcraft 14" x 3" cake pan is a very nice quality pan. Nice heavy metal and bakes up nice even cakes. Only need one layer to get a 5" cake layer with this pan.
