Customer questions about this product

Is this wooden-handled utensil dishwasher safe?
Utensils with wooden handles are not dishwasher safe; exposure to hot water can cause the wood to warp or splinter. These items should be hand washed and dried thoroughly. For optimal results, use a wood conditioner periodically to prolong the life of the wood.
Why are the bristles falling out of my brush?
To increase the longevity of your brush, we do not recommend using this brush in high heat applications. Although the bristles are set with a very strong epoxy, high temperatures can cause the epoxy to soften, resulting in loose bristles which may easily fall out.

I am very happy with my purchase this is a really decent made three – wide for bristle pastry brush has a really good price point on it for the restaurant industry

    Really great pastry brush

3" boar bristle pastry brush is an essential tool to have when basting chicken and other recipes with special marinades and sauce. Also great for buttering biscuits

We use the Bristle Pastry Brush for egg washing the croissants at our cafe. We have had no issues with it and it's very sturdy.

It is a good quality brush, but have to be careful when using it and cleaning to prevent the bristles from falling out of the brush

Just 3 inch natural born a hairbrush pastry brush was fantastic very inexpensive way to put cream on your pies or decorate plates for a fantastic brush

Bristles began falling out fairly quickly. They are assembled with glue that does not hold up very well when used to spread butter. We used them near our griddle so the heat makes the plastic trim shrivel up and shrink causing the bristles to fall out even faster. If you need these for spreading something warm/hot, find something else. We used chip brushes that you can pick up at any hardware store or home improvement center prior to trying these out and will go back to them because they hold up better and do not shed bristles in the food nearly as quickly.

These brushes are great until they aren't. They start losing their bristles after a while, usually without warning. You won't know until you start finding them in the food. Unfortunately, these brushes are the industry standard and there's really no better alternative.

I do not recommend this product. Unless I received a defective.brush, I had to throw away a double batch of cinnamon rolls, and thankfully I noticed the problem before I served them in my bakery. All the bristles came out as I was brushing butter on the dough. Was very unhappy.

I use the boar bristle brush to clean around my food production area. After my first use, I noticed several bristle came loose and I had to do a second cleaning to lift the bristle from the work surface. One should hand wash the brushes before use so the excess bristle are removed prior to use.

The 3" Boar Bristle Pastry Brush proved to be everything stated in description. Good quality, true to size. Very pleased with product. Will be ordering more sizes in the future.

3” Boar bristle pastry/basting brush works well on marinating meat or brushing egg on pastries and crusts. The boar bristles are durable but can fall out if you aren’t careful.

    from Julianne F Posted on

This is a basic, inexpensive pastry brush but be really careful. After a while, the bristles start coming out and can end up in food on the customer's plate.

    from Fernando's Posted on

This pastry brush has a finished wood handle. The soft bristle are securely attached. It works great for covering a large areas. It is worth it even though it has to be hand washed.

    from Go cheez Posted on

I make a lot biscuits for my grandkids for breakfast each week and this brush is just perfect for brushing the butter over the top when they come out of the oven.

This is a nice wide pastry brush good for many different applications. I don't recommend getting product up to the very end of the brush as they can be hard to clean, but if cared for they should last a good while.

i like this as use for pastry brush this 3" Boar Bristle Pastry Brush good quality size are good enough for using for egg shades for big bread this is really awesome

This is a good bristle pastry brush, definitely not the best , it does shed if you are using anything hot so pay attention to that before you used to serve anything

I bought this to dust off residue of coffee ground, which is perfect. This brush is fine quality that can be used for other stuff too.

Sometime you just need a larger brush, and this 3 inch board bristle pastry brush are perfect for larger works. When making pastry and lamenting butter, you want them floured so they don't stick but not so much it hardens pastry. I use these to brush off the excess flours and they are simply perfect!

from The Travels Inc Posted on

Perfect pastry brush, I just love it, just what I needed, my previous pastry brushes were no way near good as this, may get another. Thank you!

Its an ok brush, works how you would expect a brush to work but like many of them the bristles do eventually start to fall out. I have since replaced this one with the 3 inch nylon brush and have NOT had that same issue. This brush is good for brushing flower/ powdered sugar off a dry baked good but not for use on anything moist or you will be pulling bristles out.

Don't know what you expect out of a basting brush at this price, but the end pulled off both of ours within a few weeks. Granted, we leave them sitting in the butter pans on the griddle and they probably get way too hot way too often. I'm sure they would have lasted longer if we treated them better but I have had better luck with the cheap paint brushes with the crimped ends versus these that the plastic ends are glued on.

I bought this pastry bush for my seasonal food wagon. I use it to butter grilled cheese sandwiches and tuna melts. I keep it in a metal pan with butter near the grill. It has held up well over the season and i feel it will continue to be useful. This product was affordable and functional. I would recommend it.

This brush did not meet our needs. It looses hairs frequently onto our fondant cakes into egg washes. We have since stopped using this brand altogether.

I have not had any problems with this brush. The bristles do not fall out. I use this to brush off excess flour from my bread and pastry dough.

Just like most other "paintbrush" style pastry brushes, the bristles aren't very secure in this brush and you will be picking them out of your food ever so often. Not a big deal, but you have to pay attention.

    Posted on

I bought this brush because of the cheap price. When I got it it looked great but the bristles were falling get out immediately. My fruit tarts had tiny little hairs that I had to pick off of them. Wish they were more secured.

There are two products that I have bought here that I will never use again and this is one of them. The bristles fell off and of course the customers think it is hair and no matter what you say they still dont believe you.

This pastry brush makes the just so much easier. I have had bought many other pastry brushes and have always had the bristles fall out onto the pastry I'm working on, but not with this brush plus the wide gets the job done faster

This brush is a very nice brush. I prefer natural fibers to synthetic and I appreciate the quality that Webstaurantstore.com provides. A very nice tool to own.

I have tried pastry brush after pastry brush looking for one that the bristles stay in the brush and not in my egg wash! This brush is great!

This is a great large brush to cook with. I like using it to evenly apply butter to pastries and baste BBQ sauce on ribs.

What can I say it's a pastry brush. I use it to clean out my coffee grinder. Size and price is right. Need to pick up some extras next order.

    from thecookieguy Posted on

Overall the quality of these brushes is not worth saving a few dollars. The bristles start coming out not long after initial use and cause customers to think hair is in the product.

I like the width of this brush. My only complaint would be that I was constantly picking bristles off of the cake. If the bristles were more secure, I would have given this brush a higher rating.

This brush is high quality and a great value from Webstaurant. I love this brush and have reserved it specifically for bread basting. I use it to brush loaves with water before baking and then to brush them with melted butter when they come out of the oven. I'm sure it has many other uses as well. I am very pleased with the quality of this brush.

This is a good product overall. It serves its purpose well. The only complaint is that after moderate to heavy usage, the brisels fall out quite easily. Must handle with care-
