New products from Eagle Group: the cool trough.
PVC plumbing is everywhere, and because of that section 701.7 mandates that waste water entering a drainage system cannot exceed 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Today, many facilities are utilizing boilers, humidifiers, sterilizers, and commercial equipment that regularly release water exceeding 140 degrees. Designed by a leading food service consultant, the cool trough, exclusively from Eagle Group automatically maintains the drain water temperature between 120 and 130 degrees. Here's how:
Beneath the removable subway style grate is a 4" drain containing a removable strainer. Sealed under this removable paddle is a 1" diameter cold water line with a shut off valve.
The water line connects to a special thermostatically controlled valve whose sensor and outlet extend into the 4" drain. The valve regulates the flow of cold water to temper the heat in the drain water, maintaining a safe temperature level for PVC pipes, and the cold water only flows when required. The valve is mechanical in nature and does not rely on electrical power for its operation. With no power requirement, installation of the unit is much simpler and the valve is not affected by electrical failures. The cool trough is available in various sizes in standard and anti-splash configurations. There is also a selection of stainless steel and fiberglass grates to meet your specific location requirements. On the go? Check out our portable cool trough!
Created to meet international plumbing standards and designed for simplicity and reliability, the cool trough definitely lives up to its name.
