Cascade dishwashing detergent, a Proctor and Gamble brand, was invented in 1987 by the chemist Dennis Weatherby. His exciting new detergent formula was created for automatic dishwashers and featured a sunny yellow color that wouldn’t stain dishes. The formula for Cascade dishwashing soap has been used in many of today’s lemon-scented detergents.
