These plates were purchased to support a program that encourages "zero waste" events and were composted after use. The plates are very sturdy, and hold up to hot or cold foods for hours and hours. We received a lot of comments on how attractive the plates are, and each one is unique in appearance. The bowls were composted in an in-vessel composter and completely broke down after only three days in the system at temperatures between 131 and 150 degrees Fahrenheit.
