I'm wondering why this product is so hard to put together. It also does not have a manual. Further, I found rust spots on what should be a brand new product. For such a basic piece of equipment I could justify the $100+ price tag if the quality was good and if it were easy to assemble and use.

I would not recommend this product to mill potatoes. I haven't tried it with anything else, but you are better off using a strainer and/or fork if you are thinking of using this item for potatoes.

Seemed to be of good quality when received, however after the first use, the weld broke off from the bracket that holds the handle mechinism in place. Faulty workmanship caused this to fail.

The kitchen staff uses our for mashed potatoes. It saves them so much time using the food mill instead of a regular masher. The mashed potatoes comeout more even when using this.

Great stainless steel food mill, actually well-made in France! Works great for mashed potatoes, tomato sauce and other purees. Larger than my last one but would purchase again.

I was very dissapointed. 1- It is very hard to hold the center bar down to place under the notch. The bar is sharp like a knife on springs. You may need some gloves. Clearly not easy to change the sifters. 2- The spring is VERY lound and it sounds like I am winding a Jack-in-the-box. 3-The auger is too shallow and fails to catch small tomatoes. Defenitely not good for making fish soup. 4. Expensive shipping and expensive to restock 30%. I will use it as wall decoration after making a video about it. Too bad.

This is an oversized, heavy duty food mill. It works as expected, though cleaning it and getting everything back together can be a bit difficult due to the strong spring mechanism. Good for lower volume operations as it is not very quick to use since it is a manual use item.

My chef liked this food mill but the weld broke (like other users have mentioned) after only 4 months of use. Surprisingly the warranty is only 3 months so we're out of luck. Seems like a mill should last longer than 4 months.

We love this. This is the same mill sold for about 30 percent more on a famous on line store, and it is indeed made in France -- at least according to the big words on the box. We have used this to make applesauce, only bothering to remove seeds before cooking the apples. It made a quart and a half in a very few minutes, was easy to clean and easy to use. If you get one, don't try to rotate the mill dry, you will be convinced it will never work, but it is smooth as honey once there is food there. Also be sure to put the round cutting surface high side up! That's all you need to know. I have a food processor, I have a more expensive brand, I have an immersion blender, but this for more gentle tasks (such as mashed potatoes and apple sauce) is very easy to use and easy to clean. love it!

I just received my mill and when assembling it the center post has a gap of about 1" before it hits the hole in the plate. Is this a defect? i have tried applying pressure but it doesn't seem to reach and makes it very unsteady. I'm new at using one of these - any advice?

This Food Mill does the trick. I use it mostly for tomatoes. It fits over wide mouthed containers and holds a large capacity. The metal is a little thin so it works for me, might be too light weight for heavy duty use.

Initially I was unimpressed when I got this thing out of the box. It looks kind of cheapy and is pretty light-weight. But I must say it has exceeded expectations. It does exactly what it needs to do and hasn't given us any problems yet. We've used it mainly for apples and tomatoes so far. Can't beat the price - thanks.
