What is tempered glassware?

Tempering is a heat treatment process where glass is heated and then cooled under high pressure air. This process produces glass that is many times stronger than typical annealed glass. To produce fully tempered glass, the entire piece of glassware goes through this process. To produce rim tempered glass, only the rim portion of the glassware piece is treated.

    They regularly chip at the rim, and even though it says there is a warranty, they won't honor it for this item. Disappointing that it feels more like a bait and switch.

    Always a big fan of Libbey because of the sturdiness and so reliable but not this model! Can't believe half of the whole case got chipped on the rim within 6 months. Very disappointed.

    These feel a little light and fragile, and that's because they are. They are a little too thin for our likes. Do they get the job done? yes. Do you need to be very careful when handling? yes. Do they feel like they will crack and cut half your hand off when polishing them? yes.
