I have read all the reviews on this timer and they ALL are correct. It IS a good timer until it starts to flake out. We lost sensitivity on the #1 button first, then one day it just started beeping (had to take the batteries out). Put new batteries in and it worked again for about another month. Just yesterday it was timing and froze! (we lost a batch of fries!) Put new batteries in again thinking it would help, it timed 1 item and now nothing works! It is a great little 4 event timer, and I guess you get what you pay for. It's still a whole lot cheaper than spending a ton on a real one! So I guess spending a little bit every other year on a timer will just have to work for us :) (I will buy a backup one now, because when you loose your timer in a busy restaurant.....well.....you know what happens)

I purchased this timer on March 3, 2016. The + button for the minutes has already stopped working, which makes it useless for me. What a waste of money. I will not be ordering this timer again!

We bought two of these timers and we're so happy with them very loud and accurate. Until I'm one the stop button stopped working and on the other the minute Plus button stopped working I don't think I will buy the same one I think I'm going to buy the Step Up

Taylor makes great timers. I use these everyday and it works perfect. Very easy to set the time and it remembers the time so that way you can keep cooking.

from NY PIZZA PIE LLC. Posted on

This timer is LOUD! And that is a good thing. We had issues with quiet timers not getting enough attention in a busy kitchen. Problem solved.

Ordered 14 of these for locations. Love the fact that you can time four products at one time. Greatly increases the quality of the products we are serving.

    from Teresa Maddy Posted on

I bought the 1st one months ago and quickly bought 2 more. This is the only timer that has survived our kitchen and can be heard from anywhere so food doesn't overcook. Love, love this timer. Don't waste your $ on cheaper ones.

from Fifi's Lunch Box, Inc. Posted on

Great timer! We use this for our kitchen and it has the perfect high pitch for the entire kitchen to hear when it rings. It was great during our rush!

    Posted on

This is a good and very durable timer. It has the options we need. It would have been very nice though if you could store the times in it permanently instead of having only the last used time.

from Mad Mikes Burgers Posted on

The Taylor 5839N four event timer works great in our busy kitchen. If you are looking for ways to make your product consistent and prevent burnt food, this is a handy item to have.

from Railroad St Steakhouse Posted on

During the past year we've tested a few timers and always ran into an issue with the timer not being loud enough. I read the reviews for the Taylor 5839 and decided to give it a try. Best money I have spent for a timer. This thing is LOUD. Each of the 4 programmable settings have a different sound and flashing color to identify which has reached the set time. It's well built and has a large visual screen.

from The Sweet Batter Posted on

Great timer. We use it in our bakery. It is very lough and annoying when it goes off, but in a large noisy bakery, that's a good thing. You can hear it from anywhere in the bakery. We can time more than on thing at a time. We are happy and would order it again

    from Breadsmith Posted on

This timer comes in such handy. So simple to use, instead of all the cooks checking the pasta every one minute to see if its done, just set a solid cooking time and set the timer!

from Fresco's Malden Inc Posted on

We have had a couple different timers that other companies have supplied through the years. This has been a great little timer and we will order agian!

from Mesa Grande Taqueria Posted on

In our loud shared kitchen space we were missing the other timers we had used. This is bight, loud, and will be heard over anything else going on in the kitchen. Just the timer needed.

from Degrees of Cooking LLC Posted on

Perfect for timing foods in the fry station. It works like a charm, beeps loud when food cycle is completed and is easy to clean and maintain.

    from pashays Posted on

When you first use this product you think that your fire alarm is going of and telling you to leave the building, but i promise you will never burn anything up.

    from EPTING EVENTS Posted on

Great timer for the kitchen. Easy to use and set up. Allows me to set three different times and the alarm is loud enough for everyone to hear.

    from Viva Chicken Posted on

These are a workhouse in my kitchen. We use them every day, all day. They are loud, easy to use (a double click on the time will bring up the last time, very useful!) and pretty sturdy. The issues I have had after 13 years of using these: 1) They can crap out without notice. 2) I had a pair in which one would not turn off, and the other would not turn on. 3) The touch controls can become much less sensitive as they are used. It does take a while, but still. They are garbage after that. Other good things are that they can lay flat, so you can use them one handed. Perfect when one hand is covered in fried chicken batter. Overall recommend.

from Russell Street Bar-B-Que Posted on

I ended up purchasing this model as a recommendation from Webstaurant Store when I initially chose a more expensive timer. This timer has served my kitchen well for keeping track of items on multiple tickets. Easy to use and loud enough to cut through a busy kitchen. Great product and price.

    from Pulse UltraLounge Posted on

We don't use it much since our oven does come with a timer, but when we use it for other things like proofing dough/making sure baked goods go in at the proper time, the 4-event feature really helps us out!

    from Hamilton's Bakery Posted on

What an amazing deal! I love this timer and have had it for a long time, its literally half the cost on this web site. This is my second one in 10 years.

from Verdon Restaurants, LLC. Posted on

The timer works well. I have had no problems with the memory functions and it keeps consistent time. You definitely won’t miss the sound it makes.

from Eastern Managment Sports Posted on

I thought this timer had a memory function where you could program different events. It does not. I wish this timer had a memory. You need to enter the amount of time for each thing. It does time 4 different events and is LOUD enough to hear over our Hood.

Bought two of these timers about 7 months ago, and while they did a fair job for a while, they've both become a bit flaky. For one, the start/stop button doesn't work most of the time anymore.. we have to push it multiple times to get the timer to stop or start. Very frustrating when we're busy. Secondly, the timer randomly stops/resets sometimes leaving us wondering when the food will be ready. Also, the timers are a bit too loud in my opinion, with no way to adjust.

    from Johnny Gryll's Posted on

Great timer. Four timers is very handy and perfect for my business. The unit is durable and no worries of easily knocking it on the floor like smaller timers. Does beep pretty loudly, but a piece of tape on the back remedies that.

    Posted on

We have (had) two of these timers. When they worked they worked very well. However, they both began to be a bit flaky. They would randomly reset. I changed batteries even when the batteries tested strong. Then one...the one that still works...strated to not want to turn off. I had to resort to taking the batteries out. Now it is working fine again. The second, newer, one was purchased in July, and is now completely junk. All the lights would suddenly just start blinking anytime a button was pressed...even with fresh batteries.

This is a very loud timer so there is no chance that you will not realize when it is going off . We used it to time fried things like chicken strips and french fries.

from Jacobs Grocery and Cafe Posted on

This is a great kitchen timer that allows you to change the time setting very easy which is a perfect thing when you make different things

from Harts Repair Service. LLC Posted on

It worked great until it petered out after 3 months of steady use. Not necessarily a good value. The digital face froze and remained on even after the batteries were removed. I tried to locate a secondary battery to no avail.

Makes cooking multiple items easier. We don't have to worry about keeping track of different timers or cooking different things at different times. Makes it convenient.

    from Castle Catering Posted on

Loud as heck and four separate timers, batteries never ran out but after 16 months the speaker quit and it is now a paper weight. For the price I expect more durability, I'll buy seven of the cheaper ones.

There's a 1 year warranty and this thing gave out 2 months past that date. It was okay while it lasted: loud and it has 4 timers. Problem was that it was almost too loud and the buttons became hard to press very early on. The biggest problem is the poor quality buttons. The only reason I have to get a new timer is because the buttons don't respond anymore.

Like other reviewers, I agree that this timer is too loud. We've covered the speaker with tape to muffle the sound some. But we've found the timer much more durable than other timers we've had. If it had a loudness setting, I's give it 5 stars. Just the same, we've ordered a second one for another part of our kitchen.

from River and Rail Bakery Posted on

I really like this timer, it works really well. Nice and clear screen, makes you able to see it from a distance. Of course, you can certainly hear it from a further distance as it is very loud. It's great also to have the ability to time 4 different procedures simultaneously. Something I struggled before purchasing this item.

Great quality timer!! I love this timer for our kitchen, it is loud enough to hear in the entire kitchen even with equipment running. The quality of this is also impressive as it has lasted one year and seems to have many years left

    from Gallaghers Pizza Posted on

This is our 3rd timer and so far they last about a year to 15 months. This product overall is good, the sound is VERY VERY loud (we can hear it outside in the parking lot). Each timer has its own beep. Our only problem is the timers do not last more than a year or so.

    from Cupcakes Posted on

This timer is used on top of a work station next to our oven.

This Taylor timer is really nice, high quality, durable, accurate, and easy to mount and use. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it's actually too loud. I wish there was a hi/lo switch to change the volume. We unfortunately tend to not use it as often because it is so loud it sometimes scares customers that there is a fire alarm going off or something.

from JC YOUNG ENTERPRISES LLC Posted on

Great addition to our kitchen. It pays itself with savings in food loss. It's settings are not complicated. Highly recommended for a busy kitchen. 2 months and still holding up.

from Flight Deck Restaurant Posted on

An extremely loud timer it is multi functional with four event timers and usable by all kitchen staff. Can be heard outside if this effect is desirable.

from Village Cafe & Bakery Posted on

This is one of the best purchases I've made for my catering business. With a busy and noisy kitchen, this 4 event timer is a life saver. And it is so easy to use.

So far no issues with the timer. It is extremely loud and can be heard in all areas of kitchen!! The kitchen staffed asked for a loud one and now I can hear it all the way to my office.

from terry hills restaurant Posted on

This timer is the best kitchen timer I have found yet. Very durable, have dropped it several times and it still works like it is new. Loud enough to hear over kitchen noise.

    from Uri's Landing Posted on

Simple to use and loud enough to hear through out the entire restaurant. It has a long battery life as well. Love this timer I'd recommend it to everyone.

great timer in the beginning. But 2 months later there is no sound...just the blinking lights. It is pretty much useless now. Would not buy again

We could have used this last year! Bold bright color and VERY loud timer-you can hear it for quite a distance. Will come in handy timing several dishes together in the oven-wou;d buy again!

    from Foxfire Posted on

Couldn't be happier with this four event kitchen timer. It is well worth the investment, over some of the smaller, less expensive ones. The timer alarm is loud, which is needed for a busy kitchen, and you always know which timer is which. Nice, molded plastic construction and easy to use. Highly recommended.

    from Caribbean Grill Posted on

The Timer is perfect for my kitchen, with four timers i can cook 4 dishes at a time and not worring about burning anything. Its loud and well constructed and easy to use

    Well Constructed And Rugged

This timer can take some abuse. We run a mobile concession so this poor thing gets banged and bumped and scratched and it has held up so well. The flat front design of the buttons make it easy to clean. It is truly the thing that keeps us running well. Never have I regretted this purchase. Five stars for sure.

    from Barnyard burgers Posted on

I Should have bought this a long time ago. I am very glad I spent a little more and got this timer. It is loud and easy to use with large keys. Easy to see and made solid. Spend the money!

Works great, but I wish there were an on/off switch to conserve batteries, and also wish there were a volume control....TOO LOUD! would be perfect then.

from Geneva Java & Bistro Posted on

This four event timer really help out in the kitchen when your busy and doing alot at one time. Very well made. Very satisfied with this product.

Timer is loud and reliable. The only issue we had is the top started to melt when we left it under the heat lamp to long.

from Johnson & Wales Univesity Posted on

Everyone and anyone who cooks knows how important it can be to have a few kitchen timers on hand. Forgotten bacon will burn and croutons will be toast without a friendly reminder! This timer can help out with 4 tasks at one time!! Perfect!

This timer is great for a chef who is very busy and a little forgetful. Set this Taylor timer and you will never again leave something in the oven.
