Excellent knife for the price!! I use it all the time. Worked good with Pacific, East coast virginica, and Kumamoto oysters. My other knife is nice, but I find myself using the Victorinox just as much and it was a fifth of the cost.
This knife is my preferred over all others. It is durable, easy to clean, and the fine point allows easy access to the joint so I can easily and quickly pop open oysters. The red handle makes it stand out as well so I can always find it quickly.
This knife was well worth the time locating it and the price I paid for it. It works very well and is great for everyday use.
My kitchen staff really likes this oyster knife. They really like the grip on the knife and how well it holds up after weeks of use.
The first reason to buy this oyster knife is the Price. The textured handle help the knife from slipping in your hand once your hands get wet. The handle shape is slightly different than other brands but I prefer this knife over the others. Overall, Great Product we will be buying more.
This is one of the best Oyster knives out there the skinny point make it so much easier to get into the hinge and pop it
Best oyster blade ever! The long narrow point opens oysters with ease. I just insert the tip into the hinge and wiggle slightly and the oyster releases. There is no prying needed to open oysters with this knife. However due to the blunt edge of the knife cutting the muscle with this blade will not be as clean as say the New Haven style version.
We shuck lots of clams and oysters here and these knives hold up AMAZINGLY well! The grips are great which makes the job quite a bit safer.
Got two of these. Knife broke after first use. Contacted the helpline via chat, they requested a picture which I sent and decided to issue me a refund for one. Said if I returned the second one like I wanted to a 20% restocking fee would apply. Never buying these again, I recommend Dexter.
Thank you for your feedback! We're sorry you did not prefer this product, but we are glad you got credit back for your defective item, if you have any other questions please let us know.
If you are planning on doing any oysters in your restaurant this is the knife for you. I know that normally the blade on an oyster knife is wider than this one, but this knife allows you to get into tighter spots without much fuss. all in all a must have at a cheep price.
I'm on my third boston style shucking knife, and my second Victorinox brand. THe narrowed shaft of the boston style blade allows this knife to get into the tightest "knuckle" on the oyster. As a shucker in the south I have used it on thinner shelled oysters from Apalachicola Bay, to the thicker types that come from Bayou LaBatre or Galveston Bay. I switched to Victorinox from Dexter Russell for the easily identifiable red handle so no one wouldwalk off with my knife, and i perfer the grip pattern to that of a DexRus Knife.
The Boston Regular Oyster Knife is the best oyster knife out there. The only oyster knife my oyster shuckers will use. Very versatile, works equally well on clams.
