After a recommendation from a friend, I decided to have a look at the Avantco SL310 slicer to replace a cheap slicer for my home kitchen use where I slice meat 2 or 3 times a week. I wanted something durable that could slice deli thin slices or thicker as needed and something that would last me for a LONG time. I decided to give the Avantco a try and I'm glad I did. After using this slicer for several months I am convinced that it will last me for a LONG time and I am quite satisfied with it. It's durable and easy to use. In my opinion this slicer is rather easy to clean. There are two twist off knobs require to remove the slider and the blade face plate and then three phillips head screws to remove the blade. I can have it broken down in about 3 minutes or less. It takes me 5 to 8 minutes to wipe it down and remove any debris and then sanitize the parts and another two or 3 minutes to put it back together. To me, thats about as easy as it gets for cleaning something like this. I clean it completely after every use and have no issues with the time or difficulty of that process. I highly recommend this slicer!

Outstanding value for the price! Large enough to hold a brisket in the carriage and a wide range of thickness selections from paper thin to over 1/2". My only complaint is the meat guard on the back of the blade does not sufficiently match the profile of the blade to keep stray meat from being pulled behind the blade. Other than that I would not hesitate to purchase again or recommend this Avantco slicer.

Love this! Just used, cleaned & reassembled for the first time. Sliced an eye of round into paper thin slices with no problems. Cleaning it properly is a 15 minute job, but I'm super fussy. Actually cleaning it was not as bad as I expected. This is a quality piece of equipment, I'm very pleased!

For a light duty slicer, you can't beat the price. Light duty by my definition means I have to take time to clean it. A cut proof glove is a must for cleaning this thing. The cleaning kit helps with the every day wipe down, but if you slice something fatty (bacon) then you'll want to clean it down deep which takes some doing. As far as actual slicing goes, this thing definitely holds it's own. The carriage has smooth action and the slices are clean.

This is one of the great investment I made for my kitchen. It is very easy to use, to clean and most of all is it very compact. Higly recommend for small space.

Man! What a valuable piece of equipment. We don't have the highest volume of deli meat to slice, but for the price of this slicer we are so happy with our purchase! The price simply cannot be beat.

Great slicer. We use this primarily for cheese and produce. Takes up very little space in the kitchen but is a life saver. Easy to take apart and clean.

Very nice compact slicer to get the job done for what we use it for. Cleanin could be a bit easier but overall great product.

We needed a smaller meat slicer for our small golf course kitchen and westaurant had the perfect one. I have been using it for a few weeks now and love it. I read reviews about how hard it was to clean, but i didn't mind the clean up.

Very nice meat slicer for a medium sized restaurant. We went from a 12" slicer to this 10" slicer and it has been a positive change which saved us a lot of money in the cost of a slicer.

This is a fabulous product! Easy to use. Easy to clean!! We purchased the 10 inch size and are extremely satisfied. From ham capoy to roast beef it fits our needs!!

We've had this slicer for over 7 months now and are pretty happy with our purchase. We pull it out two to three times a week to prep our sandwich meats. Over all, it does what it's designed to do. There are a few things that prevent a full five stars though. First of all, the cutting platform is nearly vertical. It would benefit from a more angular lean over the deck, because as it is currently, we waste a lot of meat when it's sucked under the blade and shot out in front of the slicer. Major PITA that would be avoided if the cutting platform leaned maybe another five degrees over the deck. I sometimes prop up the feet a little to give it that extra lean so the cut meat lands on the deck. Also, the quarter HP simply isn't enough to even cut day-old bagels into chips without jamming it up. This isn't a mark against the slicer, as it's very efficient and priced very well, but if you plan on cutting anything potentially harder than a turkey breast, you may want to look for a bit more power. Cleaning used to be a process, but I've become pretty efficient at breaking it down, cleaning it and putting it back together that it's really a non-issue. All in all, if you are only planning on using a slicer maybe a few times a week, this is the slicer for you. If you may use it more often than that and want to cut cheeses or artisan breads, look for more power.

Not a bad deal. It is a bit tedious to clean but it gets the job done as a low usage machine. We don't cut that much meat and it easily handles that.

from Between the Bun Posted on

This Slicer is okay. It's not for heavy everyday use but can get the job done and as most have said it is difficult to clean.

I'm highly impressed with this advantage care of 10 inch meat slicer it works great witheverything from frozen meats I even sliced some cheese even though it's not rated for that get sent to do it just fine

Product works great. Easy to use and takes up limited shelf space during storage. I just wish the cleaning process was a little more efficient, but I don't know any slicer that's easy to clean.

My uncle purchased this meat slicer girl me as a gift for Christmas as I have been searching for a quality one. I roasted a boneless rare prime rib, as well as a home cured pastrami and the slicer is amazing. From shaved to paper thick to thick enough to roll meets with a horseradish sauce filling for a cheese board. This machine is top notch and I highly recommend it. Very easy to use, and the blade is do sharp I'm afraid to psclean it so my husband does that job. It does have to come apart to completely clean correctly but definitely worth the effort. Will be trying my home brined corned beef and turkey breast next. I think you webstaurant store again for a top notch quality appliance at an amazing value.

Great deli slicer for low volume slicing. Works great not just with deli meat, but also with cheeses. It's compact and light so it's easy to move it if necessary.

Avantco SL310 10" Manual Gravity Feed Meat Slicer - 1/4 hp #177SL310 Ok I owned many meat slicers and this may not be the best but it was not my worse I really like this one it runs smooths and cuts thin it also gets chips caught in narrow spaces in the machine and toss pieces across the room lol it is a good low cost meat slicer worth the value

    from PowerQuee Media Posted on

Very light weight for easy portability in the kitchen. Only small pieces of meat can be used at a time with such a small area for cutting. Great for slicing produce like tomatoes or pickles. Cleaning is a chore and difficult to get into the nooks and crannies. Blade arm moves well, but you need to anchor the slicer or it will move with you.

I must agree with several reviewers that this is the worst engineered product of it's kind. The guard around the blade, after you remove the cover guard, is immobile. It is an absolute bear to clean. I have wanted a slicer for years and years, but it has not been essential to my business. So this was a desire purchase that I regret. We all dread using it because the clean-up time is generally equal to the slicing time. Spend a bit more and get something that can be easily properly cleaned and sanitized. I also have been unable to remove the slide to put it in the dishwasher. Not sure if this was intended or not. Makes cleaning the spikes very dangerous.

"Affordable" gravity slicers are like GREAT home-made fruit cake. Yeah, it probably exists, but darn if after 30 years of Christmas gifts I have yet to try it. Well not anymore! We bought this as a stop-gap measure until we had the capital to get a more high end model. However, this little machine works perfectly! Our prep team said not to bother, this has smooth, consistent action; the handle does tremendous keep corned beef under control; and cleanup is a breeze. Best value slicer I've ever used.

This deli slicer is awesome for the price! We looked at several used for much more but really wanted a new clean one that had not been used but didn't think we could afford it, until we found this one!

Beware of this product! Any application voids the warranty. We bought the slicer in good faith, used it for 5 months and the motor burned out. When we tired to get a warranty repair we were told the warranty had been voided because we sliced meat. It is a meat slicer! Stay away from this one.

    Posted on

Thank you for the review. As stated in your correspondence with our Customer Solutions team, the warranty is voided on this item when used to slice frozen meat, since, this is not its intended use. This slicer is well equipped to cut fresh deli meats.

The slicer is excellent for small operations such as a food truck. my only complaint is the cleaning process. The unit does not tear down very easily to clean. That's ok though, the small foot print of the machine makes up for the added cleaning.

This meat slicer is sturdy, compact and easy to use. Provides different levels of thicknesses for slicing. Is fairly quiet when running and cord provides sufficient length. Clean up is easy.

Bought because of all the five star reviews. We are a medium sized busy restaurant. Slicer works great for the price, we've sliced everything from cheese to frozen meats. Two main complaints; most importantly this thing is extremely horrible to clean, whoever designed this never actually used it. You'll need to remove the blade to at all be sanitary, which requires a new tool in the kitchen, a power screw driver. After 7 months the screws are stripped. Second; the fine sharpening wheel broke, but the slicer only comes with a replacement coarse sharpening wheel. This would be an easy five star review if it wasn't for the poor design. All other slicers this piece is easily removed for cleaning, except on this one it is more or less built on. Bummer. Bump up your budget and get a better slicer.

We only slice a few meats and cheeses in our coffee shop so we opted for the smaller slicer. The drawback here is that the machine is relatively light and slides a little during use...we have to block it so it won't move. Another small issue is our cured meats get stuck behind the blade assembly because the motor housing is too close to the the exit area. We have to keep our hand underneath to grab each slice so it decreases efficiency. Not super easy to clean but few slicers are.

Thank you for your review! We're sorry to hear you didn't like your meat slicer. This meat slicer is an excellent value and is designed for low-volume applications of less than 1 hour of slicing per day. It is not suitable for continuous heavy use, raw, or frozen meat, or cheese.

Purchased this deli slicer for home use, slicing wild game summer sausage, pastrami, smoked meats, etc. First time use was exceptionally easy to operate, and clean-up is a breeze. Sliced 11-1/2 lbs of pastrami to 1/16" thickness in less than 30 minutes (including vacuum bagging). For safety, I recommend that the slicing thickness panel be moved to the zero thickness during cleaning, as the blade is incredibly sharp. Highly recommend this slicer for home and light commercial use. Definitely a 5-star value.

This machine works very well. The problem is cleaning it. Meat gets stuck behind the cutting wheel in hard to reach places. There are no instructions and it appears that there is no simple way of cleaning without unbolting and unscrewing some parts. This may have to be sent back.

As a "semi-pro" BBQ cook, I wore out several home model slicers over the years. Finally bit the bullet and wish I would have done this years ago. Powerful, sharp, and does deli thin slices with ease. Easy to clean, at least in the world of slicers. Great Product!

This is a great meat slicer in my small restaurant, i use 3 times a week and it makes quick work out of slicing. It has nice adjustment as i like to shave my meat super thin, and it does that well. It does make a mess with some meats sometimes, as it will shoot small pieces all over. I now just put a large cutting board behind it and it catches everything. This was a very affordable slicer that does a nice job. I would say this is probably not for heavy daily use though.
