This was pretty good- not great for Red Velvet. Used a few times and had to switch back to AmeriColor Gel. This came out dull for the cupcakes shown. However I just don't like to put too much food coloring in our desserts- but you might be able to get the same vibrant effect if you added a few more tablespoons then suggested!

Large quantity and great price. I use this for red velvet cupcakes and color comes through. I have to put into a smaller bottle for regular use since the open is too large and creates spills for the smaller quantities that I use it in but overall a good product.

We make a lot of red velvet cake in our bakery and thought this would be an economical solution to the food dye required. We were not happy with the results as you needed to use too much of the dye and it throws off the liquids ratios.

This says that it is a tomato red food coloring, but it is closer to a deep reddish orange. It is rightly named "tomato" red because it is the color of the inside of a tomato. It is not exactly red so if that is what color you are looking for than this is not the food coloring for you. You can "doctor" it up with a deep red paste coloring.

The amount of coloring for the price is unbeatable. The color, on the other hand, is a little off. It is not a rich, deep red. It is more of an orange-red. I still add a few drops of gel color to the red velvet cake batter in addition to this product. The flavor/ taste is fine.

This red food color is definitely a tomato orange color more than red but adding more than necessary (for redvelvet cake/cupcakes) you can get close to a bright red color. I normally have to add a darker gel color along with my recipe.

This product is large and cheap, but it is definitely not suitable for making red velvet cake, as it claims in the description. This dye doesn't yield a true red, no matter how much you add. It gives more of a tomato soup hue.

This coloring is good, and the shipping surprisingly was not that expensive, but in cakes and baked goods it comes out a little orangy-bronzish, so you just have to add a little more.

Unbelievable value on food coloring! The local grocery store will charge you as much for an OUNCE as Webstaurant supplies for a GALLON !!! Uses for this are limitless. As so many others have mentioned, cupcakes, icing, and red velvet cake are naturals, but you can also add this to cookies, tortes, pastries, any kind of Valentines treat (just a few months away!), AND, as we use it for, Red Beer for Halloween!
