When simply mixed with water, this corn meal creates a soft and fluffy corn dough that's ideal for preparing a wide variety of Latin treats. To make classic, crispy-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside arepas, begin by adding 2.5 cups of water to a large bowl and slowly pouring in 2 cups of P.A.N. pre-cooked white corn meal and 1 teaspoon of salt. Knead the ingredients together until a smooth dough forms, then allow it to rest for 3 minutes. After it has rested, separate the dough into 10 portions; roll each piece of dough into a ball, then flatten it into a disc approximately 3 1/2" in diameter. Place the arepas into an oiled pan over medium heat and cook for 5 minutes on each side, or until a golden-brown color is achieved. Serve your fresh arepas hot with your desired fillings!
