Oreck BB900-DGR XL Pro 5 Canister Vacuum Cleaner

Upon assembly the unit does not turn on when plugged into an operating wall socket. I followed the instructions on page 2 outlining the motor protection system. I also put a new filter bag in and the unit will not turn on. Was told to call Oreck and they want me to order parts which may or may not solve the problem. I am not a vacuum mechanic and my time is spent better elsewhere. Oreck guy not helpful at all, would not even pull up the owner manual provided in the box to walk me through it. Told me to order a part and see if that works. Why not provide a product that works in the first place? cmon . I usually get great service from WST

This lightweight vacuum makes it easy to clean hard to reach places, like baseboards and vaulted ceilings and walls with the crevice tool attachment, and wall and floor attachment. I think the heavy duty cord might weigh more than the vac itself, but it's easy to carry to clean high and low places.

Purchased this unit for hardwood floors and it works great! Powerful and light. Convenient "step on" levers to switch to carpet setting or back to hardwood / tile. The hose could be a little longer, but it is still functional.

I was a skeptic when I purchased it. Now...I think the Oreck BB900-DGR XL Pro 5 is the first vacuum that has EVER met all my needs. (And that's a LOT of vacuums!) It is lightweight and has a shoulder strap. This reduces the risk of damage to walls or furnishings and effortlessly increases my range of reach. The tools are at hand and I don't need to bend, lift or twist when I change them. The tool assortment allows an efficient way to completely clean a room and furnishings with ease...top to bottom. The vacuum is rather quiet and there has been no exhaust odor or dust. The vacuum bags are reasonably priced. I use a clean HEPA H10 bags with each change of job site. They are small and reasonably priced. I use this vacuum 5 days a week for approximately 4 to 6 hours per day. The Oreck BB900-DGR XL PRo 5 has been a positive addition to my tool kit.

Purchased the Oreck BB900-DGR Xl Pro 5. I purchased this because I had one for a long time and it finally broke down. It was the best so that is why I purchased it again it still has the same quality that my first one had. Would recommend this item.

I have had the old version of the canister and loved it. I decided to give that one to my father and buy this. It is difficult to use. 1. the hose always pulls against you - have tried to stretch it out but it doesn't work. 2. The friction method of attaching the extension wand does not work as the weight of the wand is too heavy. I kept having to put it back on as it slides off and eventually the end of the wand cracked and needed to be taped. 3. The longer cord is great but is too heavy for the weight of the canister itself. 4. The strap broke within a month so can't hang it over my shoulder > the little plastic that attaches it - is not strong enough. 5. The built in extension of the wand was a good idea but makes this very difficult - the two extensions on the older versions were better

I purchased the Oreck BB900-DGR XL Pro 5 Canister Vacuum Cleaner because I have an Oreck upright which does not have a hose. I have used it very occasionally, for a mess that has spilled or for spiders (I don't like to squish them, ew). My husband uses it for vacuuming the vehicles. We have not had a problem with it and I feel that it works fine for those smaller jobs. My housekeeper had a different opinion. She uses it for longer periods of time, walking around the whole house and using it for edges and dusting mostly. She said that the strap was not very comfortable and slipped off a lot. I purchased this sweeper for my daughter. Upon attempting to use for the first time, the strap broke. Also one of the main attachments was lo loose, that it kept falling off. Very disappointed in this sweeper. I have owned Oreck sweepers in the past ( I currently have two), but this one is definitely poor in quality. I am returning the sweeper and will not purchase an Oreck again since the quality of the merchandise is not the same as in the past.

This vacuum is a little smaller than I thought it was gonna be but then you start using the extensions and stuff and it's like a full-size vacuum that fits on the side of your hip don't forget to get your bags

Great vacuum but cheap strap. Received 2 days ago and 2 min into first use...strap broke. Not happy! Oreck needs to improve the quality of this strap. Frustrating to say the least.

This Oreck vacuum cleaner is impressive and easy to use. It's portable and surprisingly lightweight but gets the job done in no time. Great buy!
