Nu-Calgon 433008 Details
Scale buildups can wreak havoc on your equipment, causing compressors to work harder and high head pressure in the water lines - remove these deposits quickly and easily with this Nu-Calgon 4330-08 liquid scale dissolver! This fast-acting blend combines hydrochloric acid and low-foaming corrosion inhibitors that work to dissolve stubborn scale and iron oxide deposits. It also changes color with the pH of the water so that you can easily evaluate how much to use, when to add more, and when the system is clean (pH paper is included, too). It is low-foaming to reduce the risk of injury or damage, and to cut back on waste. Use it on cooling towers, evaporative condensers, closed chilled water systems, and hot water boilers. It is safe for copper, steel, iron, brass, wood, rubber, and plastic, but it should not be used on systems that contain galvanized, stainless steel or aluminum as the acid in this product can damage these materials and other soft metals.
Application should be performed by an HVAC/R professional. Begin by cleaning the spray nozzles and water distribution holes, shutting off the bleed and make-up water, and draining the sump. Fill the system with fresh water, adding 1 gallon of product for every 20 gallons of system water. Allow the acid to recirculate until the scale has been neutralized, adding more liquid scale dissolver as needed. With every third addition of acid, flush the system and add fresh water before dosing. The system is free of scale when the solution retains a green color for 30 - 45 minutes. Use pH test strips if it isn't possible to view the solution color. After cleaning, thoroughly rinse the system with water making sure any residues from cleaning have been thoroughly flushed before returning to normal use.
