Simply insert the neck of the wine bottle into the cradle, pull down the handle to insert the corkscrew, and then return the handle to the starting position. In that final movement, the cork will be extracted. Remove the wine bottle from the cradle and the cork will fall to the floor!

This particular cork-remover is very flimsy and made from cheap material. I bought 2 and broke both within opening a few cases of wine. The "table vice clamp" part stripped on one unit, and the mechanism to spin the corkscrew stripped on both, leaving metal shavings and an unopened bottle. In contrast, I also have an Alegacy "RAPID" Corkscrew (1144) that has been in use for at least 10 years, however it is much more expensive. You get what you pay for, if you're only opening a few bottles this will do the job, but if speed and reliability are important, keep shopping.
