Corelle dishes claim to be break-proof and chip-resistant, but mine broke. What happened?

Although Corelle is made of an extremely durable glass called Vitrelle, it is not completely shatter- or break-proof. Corelle is covered by a 5-year warranty against breakage, chipping, and staining under normal commercial use. However, this warranty does not include any breakage from dropping since that is not considered normal commercial use.

Does tempered glassware still break?

All glassware has the possibility for potential breakage. When broken, tempered glass will break into smaller pieces that are less likely to cause injury, however all broken glass provides a risk for injury and should be treated with caution.

How can I properly use this dinnerware piece in the oven?

This item can be placed in the oven for warming purposes only. To reduce the risk of breakage, refrain from transporting the piece from one extreme temperature to another. It is recommended that you slowly heat up the item in the oven rather than placing it directly in an oven that has already been set to a high temperature.

I just purchased my Corelle dinnerware piece. Why does the surface look pebbly?

Before Corelle leaves the factory, it is sprayed with a completely organic, non-toxic coating to help prevent damage during shipping. Please wash with detergent and hot water before using or run it through a dishwasher cycle.
