Vollrath 47965 5 Qt. Stainless Steel Colander with Base and Handles

I don't much care for this colander. There's too few holes, so anything that packs down a bit (e.g. flat noodles, vs say penne) don't drain well. Tried to drain fresh soft cheese and yogurt in cheesecloth in this colander, and it barely drained at all due to too few holes. Is a very thin gauge steel too, flimsy seeming. For an economy colander for light duty, a fairy good deal, but not so good for heavier duty usage.

This colander is quite lightweight with large handles that make it easy to strain most things. As mentioned in another review however, the colander doesn't always drain completely. There are two reasons for this: 1: The holes are a little too small and so they will sometimes get blocked by bubbles or simply the surface tension of the water. 2: The base is just a touch raised and so a small band of water remains around the inside edges. However, the amount of water that I had remaining was small enough to where it didn't affect me at all. I was quite happy with this purchase especially at this price point.

A very nice well built colander. I love the foot as I don't have to worry so much about water contaminating my food from slow drainage. It hangs up nice which make it easily accessible.

This colander is very pretty and matches great with my kitchen. It's a good size to wash large amounts of fruits or vegetables. It fits inside the kitchen cabinet too.

We use this everyday in our kitchen. It does exactly what you want it to do. Has held up very well with usage everyday. If we need more we will be buying some more.

WOW.. this 8 qt stainless steel footed colander is super sized. No more worrying about not having a large enough one for pasta anymore. It is made very strong. A must have every place you cook.

Wish the holes were a bit bitter to strain things a bit better but for the price it gets the job done. Lightweight but seems durable.

This does what a colander should. Holes are small enough that nothing escapes, but large enough that I'm not left with watery noodles. The whole thing feels very durable for the price I paid.

This colander is a great tool to have for rinsing and daring many food products, it cleans up pretty good too, just make sure to clean the base good as food wants to hide here.

Excellent colander. Excellent price. Stainless steel is so much better because you don't need to worry about anything being too hot and melting plastic. Drains well. Works perfectly.

if you are looking to drain the water from something, look no further! the 8qt size is good for medium size kitchen jobs. its a bit thin but i don't have a problem with that.

This is a great colander. It feels very well built and is holding up nicely to a variety of tasks. I have had no problems with rusting. Very pleased.

This 13 Qt. Stainless Steel Footed Colander was a miracle come true. It was large enough for me to drain my pasta and the convenient handles made it perfect to manage.

This is a good size colander, however, it is made a little flimsy. It arrived with the bottom crushed in, but popped back into place.

I am very happy with this colander. It is not too heavy, nor is it too light weight and flimsy, but just right for us!

This colander is huge, just what I need to prep my salads in a jar for my lunch for the week. Great for draining pasta too, I used to have a plastic one and always felt uneasy pouring boiling pasta water into it. This one works better.

This is a decent colander , with a couple drawbacks. The bottom is just about dead flat, so even though there are holes water pools up around the bottom. Also, the holes are rather small, so washing veggies or draining pasta can take a moment. But this fits in my sink perfectly and gets tons of use.

Every kitchen needs a big colander for washing, draining and more. Buy this one, its super cheap and super great. Will be back for more ( sizes)

Very sturdy and good thick quality, easy to clean. We use this for draining greens and pasta. I really like that it's stainless steel and will not rust.
