Works grate! I use it all the time for ricotta salata. Makes somewhat long, thin strands of cheese, not super small. I personally think it's perfect.

I use this grater to grate carrots for my carrot cake cupcakes.....A lot of people don't care for carrot cake that has big chunks of carrots in it. this grater is the perfect solution. grates the carrots evenly and finely, so the texture of the cake is not changed to much! This is a well-built, ergonomic, sharp and nice looking grater. Medium holes are perfect for grating chocolate, hard cheeses and vegetables. The grating surface is smaller than my residential grater that I am replacing with this one, but this is not a concern. Very few foods you will be grating are big enough to utilize the entire width in one stroke. Overall, very happy with the purchase. Does the job quickly and very well.

I use this to grate garlic more often than anything else. It nearly pastes it in seconds. Use the largest cloves you can find and watch your fingers! Knuckles and nails can get in the way. It's great for harder cheeses like cheddar or provolone. Much less so for Pepper Jack (the peppers are too big to go through the holes - they generally end up stuck to the top of the grater). When Zesting citrus, it seems to increase in effectiveness as the fruit gets larger. I get significantly better results from lemons over limes and oranges over lemons. Not effective on: Onions, cinnamon, nutmeg, mozzarella
