This pasta cut is a great complement to rich and creamy dairy- and tomato-based sauces as well as chunky fish and meat sauces as the hollow tube holds onto sauces to ensure maximum flavor in every bite. Traditionally used in soups in Italy, elbow macaroni noodles have become a staple in American cuisine for macaroni and cheese and pasta salads. Made with only one simple ingredient, whole grain durum wheat flour, this pasta cooks up "al dente" every time. It delivers 6 grams of fiber and a mild nuttiness that will enhance your dishes' flavor without overpowering the other ingredients. Its mild flavor makes it easy to use interchangeably with traditional pasta in your recipes, making it a great option to have as an option in your cafeteria's pasta bar or a menu upgrade at your restaurant. To prepare, use 4-6 quarts of water per pound of pasta. Bring to a rolling boil and add salt to taste. Add the pasta to the boiling water, stir gently, and return to a boil. For "al dente" pasta, boil uncovered for 7 minutes, stirring occasionally. For more tender pasta, boil for an additional minute. Remove from the heat and drain well. Simply add your preferred ingredients, plate, and serve!
