Ateco Piping Bags, Short Spatulas and Pastry Tubes

Hi, this is Julie Bashore from the Sugar Arts Institute. Let’s have fun with some of the Ateco piping tips. Working with their disposable piping bags that come on a roll, they tear off really easily, I like to work with the smaller 12” bags but they also have 18”. Working with a coupler, remove the nut from the base of the coupler and place the base in the bag as tightly as you possibly can. Working with a pair of scissors, above the screw marks, just cut the edge of the bag and remove that. And then you’re going to choose the piping tube that you’d like to work with, place it on the top of the coupler, and screw it down firmly. This is a piping bag stand; it’s very convenient, especially if you’re piping alone or you don’t want to interrupt anyone to fill the bags, it holds the bags really well and you can slip your icing in there. This is the short-ended Ateco spatula which is quite wide so it’s really convenient for picking up the buttercream. Pull the bag up, place it on the table, and spread the buttercream down to the end. And then of course it’s important not to forget to burp the bag. This piping tip that I’m using is a ruffling pipe piping tip, and it’s absolutely amazing how quickly it works. Have a look, come in close. Doesn’t that give an awesome ruffle? Let’s work with another tip. This is the shell tip; don’t forget to burp your bag. This is great for a border; in fact, I sometimes use it on the edge of my ruffle. It gives a really nice shell design. The tip itself is curved so it gives a nice puffy shell appearance to it. Ateco has a new set that they’ve brought out: polycarbonate plastic piping tips, they are large tips, very strong and very precise in the edging. This one is a basket weave design; it really makes an awesome border. Place the bag over the holder, again, don’t forget to push the butter cream all the way to the edge and burp the bag. It has two edges, a flat edge and a scalloped edge so this makes a great ribbon design; you can also wiggle it or make just a ribbon and also wiggle this. Flip it over and wiggle. Great for basket weave.

    You can never have too many piping tips! I use this one mainly for decorating cupcakes.- the larger tips make for faster decorating. The piping tip is well constructed.
    Great piping tip for anything from piping buttercream onto cupcakes to whipped cream - it's also strong enough to hold thick ganaches and such too.
    This is one of my favorite tips to use. It is the perfect size because I like the larger tips. I use it on cakes cupcakes and other desserts. I think I need to add some more into my pantry because I love them that much.
    This tip is great I typically only use it for cupcakes I have yet to use it on an actual cake, but plenty icing comes out at once.
    The WebstaurantStore has such wonderful prices on baking essentials like this. The 869 tip produces a beautiful star of frosting or whipped cream and cleans easily. The metal does not feel flimsy at all. Love it!
    It's a larger tip and makes quick work of decorating. It does the same a a small standard star tip only bigger and faster. I use it to make fillings pretty.
    These Piping tips are amazing they are beautiful durable they last for a very long time are used them and all my baking it looks so professional and clean lines
    This was larger than I wanted but it’s okay. It worked perfectly to make cacti for a Mexican themed party. I will be buying a smaller one in the future.
    Good quality, though you'll be hard-pressed to find a coupler of the right size. Don't really need one with a decent bag and/or a well-cut tip!
    These are exactly what I need when I make meringues. I usually make so many that the smaller size bags always needed refilling, which with meringues can be quite a mess.
    Cant wait to use this tip. Seems succulent cakes are in and figured this tip would make a nice cactus :) so wanna give it a shot
    This French start tip is great for cake designs, as well as for frosting cupcakes. Its size lets you frost ever larger cupcakes with just a quick squeeze and a twist.
    I use this for piping large eclairs. Does a good job, easy to clean so far, tips are sharp so watch out when reaching blindly into a drawer for them.
    Very large nozzle with large opening! Easy to use and pretty. I was able to top a cupcake with one squeeze I frosted 24 cupcakes in probably 3 minutes. I highly recommend.
    Very pleased, used for intended use. Sturdy and durable, easy to clean. However, we would prefer that the factory sticker not be placed directly on product, as the adhesive is difficult to remove.

    This is a beautiful jumbo tip for making a Fench star swirl on cupcakes. You may have to use it without a coupler if your coupler is small.
    In my experience the Ateco tips are reliable and sturdy. They are cheaper on this site vs. buying them in the craft stores. This #9 tip is awesome! With just one smooth motion you can make awesome looks with your buttercream. It is large, so you can expect more buttercream than less to be dispensed. Might require a larger than normal batch of buttercream, depending on the size of your project.
    I love how big this tip is. It’s like a giant sea shell and I had an underwater party with cupcakes and it was the best time to do a large dollop of icing on top.
