"This single origin Sumatra coffee is great for its value. It is very fruity but not too acidic."
Read More ReviewsThough coffee grows abundantly in Sumatra, the local environment also poses a challenge when it comes to processing the beans. Whereas coffee that's grown in other regions is either allowed to naturally dry in the sun with the cherry intact or has the fruit removed in a washing process before being sun dried, the lack of reliable sunshine in Sumatra means that coffee growers can't rely on time-consuming sun drying to help remove the fruit and parchment from the coffee beans. Instead, this coffee is "wet-hulled," which means the skin of the cherry is removed and the beans are dried for just a few hours before being run through a wet-huller that uses friction to remove the thick parchment layer from the bean. Wet-hulled coffee has a flavor that's somewhere in between the bright, fruity taste of naturally processed coffee and the complex depth of washed coffee. The final result of this unique processing method is a coffee with dark, earthy tones, notes of subtle spice and rich molasses, and a distinctive herbal aroma. With a robust, full body and an especially low acidity, this boldly complex coffee is a perfect choice for connoisseurs or casual coffee lovers looking to expand their palates!
To further highlight the deep, roasty, earthy flavors created by the wet-hulling process, this coffee is roasted long and slow to the darker side of medium to highlight its characteristic intensity.
This coffee's whole bean format offers you flexible preparation options, allowing you to brew the perfect cup for any occasion.
Using a French press to brew this coffee is a wonderful way to extract all of the complexity and depth it has to offer! Grind the beans coarsely and pour just enough water 30 seconds off a boil (205 degrees Fahrenheit) over them to saturate all the grounds. Allow this slurry to bloom for 30 to 40 seconds before filling your French press all the way up and allowing it to steep for 3 to 4 minutes before plunging the grounds down. This dark roast coffee is also ideal for AeroPress brewing, which will produce a clean, smooth, rich cup of coffee while highlighting the uniquely earthy and spiced flavors of this varietal. No matter how you choose to prepare it, serving this Arrosto Sumatra Mandheling coffee in your establishment is a testament to your discerning taste that will keep your patrons coming back for more!

Great tasting coffee. Lots of compliments and questions of "what kind of coffee is this" from friends and family. And for the price, it's a crazy deal.
