flame Great handle heat simmer stove wooden gas tamer low
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

I just got a new gas stove and I can't turn the 10000 BTU burners down low enough to simmer anything like rice. This simple product keeps me from needing to move the pot all the time or having the flame so low it blows out. If you have a gas stove without a simmer burner this is for you!

This is a super helpful tool for simmering stocks and soups on a gas stove - sometimes even the lowest setting gets things rolling too much and this helps to distribute the flame and heat very well. Just be sure to keep the wooden handle and hanging tag away from the flame.

Great at distributing the heat/flame for low simmer dishes, but the metal will scorch if you turn the heat up too high.

This is a really great flame tamer it works great with my stainless steel coffee cattle that I got up so I can put that on my stove when my coffee maker is not working

Very happy with that my container of water always falls over now I have a better flat surface to keep it on

I love to use this flame tamer when I am using my gas stove. It really helps distribute the heat. The wooden handle makes it easy to transfer

Works great to give you a little better lower end temperature control. I mainly use it for getting the right simmer on things. It does discolor pretty quickly from the heat and the handle can slightly burn if you have a wide burner or the heat is too high.

This device is an excellent tool to prevent uneven simmering of cream and other sensitive sauces and sautes. Excellent construction with a good wooden handle that really takes the heat. It will darken by the shank end but endures the abuse. A must have for the busy chef that desires even heating without edge burning. Perfect for soups, sauces and other foods without constant stirring required.

8 1/4" Flame Tamer / Simmer Ring when boiling with a coffee pot or creating confections we need to not reduce the heat but evenly distribute it under iur pot

these are good to have if you make lots of food that will burn easy it helps a lot. but the handle on it I don't like you have to be carful not to burn it if you are cooking several things at a time.

This simmer ring can handle my home stove on full blast without an issue. You don't see the flames go through but you'll see the shimmering air above the ring. Discoloration of the metal is normal. The packaging advertises that it can turn any burner into a double boiler.

This device is not meant for a commercial kitchen. The handle burns quickly, the metal rusts, and it just barely helps keep things at a simmer. Not a fan.

I have had to scrub bottoms of to many burnt pots in my life. Along came this wonderful invention. Brings the flame low but still cooks to slow. No more wasted dish time, still delicious soup and sauce

Great inexpensive tool to save you hours of making sauce. I use on the bottom of my sauce pot to prevent my sauce from being burnt on the bottom.

This is a very light-weight item which at first gives the impression that it might not hold up well under extensive use or heavy pots. However, I find that the product appears to be more durable than expected and having used it several times, I have found no fault with the design or the construction. It is great for simmering products on a low heat without fear of "hot spots" or burning as long as the flame is kept low. I would recommend this product.

If you have any thin bottomed pots and pans this flame tamer ring is a great way to keep the bottom from burning. I believe it can only be used with gas burners. It does it's job. Good quality.

This is a good flame tamer, I used it to simmer slowly a moka pot, it works great, make sure you don't have the heat on high as the wood will start to burn

This item is great. My mom used it, I use it, just love it, can not cook without it! Great to warm food up without getting it burnt, great to keep food warm on stove while my husband gets back from work late!

The flame tamer/simmer ring is great when melting chocolate, making sauces, steaming, and for tortilla/roti making. The wooden handle doesn't heat up, so it can be used safely. Just be careful to keep it away from direct fire.

The metal part of this thing is great, and I got great results taming a gas flame when roasting coffee in a popcorn popper. My complaint with the thing is the wooden handle. I have used it twice and it's already turned black about half an inch up. I know the wood is there to prevent the handle from heating up, but I wish I didn't have to worry about exposing it to direct flame.
