This fixture can be exposed to direct contact with rain and moisture and is safe to use in an open outdoor area such as a building entrance, an open deck, patio, or porch. Lighting fixtures that are listed for wet locations have components made from non-corrosive materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, or brass. Rubber gaskets and/or silicone sealants are required to prevent moisture from getting inside electrical connections, and a special coating on the plastic or paint is necessary to withstand continuous UV rays and keep a good fixture appearance.
