This Watts air gap is used to provide the unobstructed, physical separation between the discharge end of a potable water supply line and an open receiving vessel. It's designed for reduced pressure zone assemblies, preventing cross-contamination within your plumbing system. If there is a backflow, then contaminants from that wastewater can compromise your potable water. It replaces a worn or broken part to keep your equipment operating efficiently. It's recommended to install an air gap in your system.
