Hi, I'm Nicole and I'm with the product development team at Eco Products. I'm here today to introduce Folia, a new line of sugarcane take-out containers. Folia was designed with the end user in mind, making it different than the rest. Today's video will take you through the development of Folia and explain the features that make it unique. Take-out meal options are becoming more important in today's foodservice marketplace. In a recent survey by Technomic, 57% of consumers said they purchase once a week or more. Additionally, consumers agree that the take-out experience can be ruined by a number of factors, including leaking, deterioration of food, taste, or freshness, food that doesn't stay hot or cold, or food that is missing condiments. So what options are available for take-out? Hinged clamshells, two-piece containers, folded paper boxes, and foil containers are the main ones. These options come in various styles and shapes, but have short comings such as difficulty eating from the container, challenges with sealing and closure, bulky and unattractive designs, problems with transport, and the inability to microwave. Worst of all, the majority of these containers are not sustainable and end up in the trash. What exactly does a customer need? The answer is quite simple. A container that performs better than conventional products, is green, and looks cool. That's why we're excited to announce Folia. Folia comes in 6 sizes and can be used for a variety of applications like leftovers, take-out, salad bars, boxed lunches, and much more. What makes Folia unique and cool? Folia offers an enjoyable eating experience since there's no more fighting vertical flaps to eat. The container is molded open, so it naturally wants to return to that position. You can also tear off the flaps so that you're left with a bowl that's easy to eat from and instantly microwavable. Another feature of Folia is sealing. The molded side flaps create wall to wall contact, sealing the corners and preventing leaks. Folia is modular. The number 1 size is designed to act on its own or fit inside the number 3, allowing you to sell an operator on both sizes for 2 stand-alone containers or 1 compartmented option. The leaf shape on the top and base of the container allow for stacking. The textile nature of sugarcane also prevents slippage. Folia is the perfect take-out solution. The right flap has a pocket to fit Eco Products utensils. The left flap has sauce inserts so a portion cup or bag isn't required. There is also a locking tab on the top edge to prevent flaps from springing open and spilling contents. Folia is sized right. The number 1 size is small, making it perfect for that side of mashed potatoes that you just can't leave behind. It's also offered in a 2 compartment option. Finally, Folia just looks cool. It's elegant, contemporary, and green. And, with its patented design, nothing on the market looks like it. With all of these features, you're probably wondering where to start. Here's a list of 4 target segments and the things they value. The first target segment is restaurant operators. Restaurants want a container that performs and focuses on the end user's dining experience. The second target is universities and healthcare operations. In this segment, students and sustainability boards are your targets. Also, because food is not usually consumed in the cafeteria, transport is a critical need. Third is upscale supermarkets. Supermarkets need upscale salad bar and family dining options for the guest that is dining in or taking their food home. Finally the fourth segment is catering operators. Caterers are all about food presentation and the ability to prep food in advance. With this information in mind and Folia's features, let’s start creating your target lists.
