My name is Brett Joyce here in Newport, Oregon at the Rogue Brewery. This is Rogue's 26th year, we were founded in 1988. We were always rogue about our business, we always did complex beers, which were, back then 20-25 years ago, not that common. Hi I'm Eric Wallace, president and co-founder of Left Hand Brewing Company here in Longmont, Colorado. Left Hand started off 20 years ago, I think milk stout is probably our most popular, and that's what people are going to know us for first. A stout is a higher alcohol, typically a roasty beer that has a nice bitterness to counter that. The difference between a stout and a pilsner is that you use a lot of dark roasted malts to give it that color and roasty flavor. Stouts are definitely way more complicated than pilsner. They go deep into the flavor. A beer specific glass will help to accentuate certain components and deliver that as we intend, as opposed to just being, you know, a bucket to throw beer in your mouth. Being a brewery that makes over 50% very dark beer, I think we're an ideal candidate to partner with Spiegelau. I was thrilled to get the chance to work with Spiegelau when they called and said would we consider working with them and also in conjunction with Left Hand, another brewery that love and respect, took me about 5 seconds to say yes, whatever it is, we'll do it! It was a process, it was 3 separate times we went through a host of glasses, so we're looking for a glass that goes across the spectrum of beers. We didn't just try our own dark beers, but Rogue's beers, and other dark beers because we want the glass to work well across the range of dark beers. We both ultimately picked the same final glass, which was this glass, so that really validated the fact that the work we had done in rounds one and two delivered the ultimate stout glass in the finished product. I think we were both pretty gobsmacked at the difference that the shape and form and opening and all the different pieces of the glass actually had on the beer experience itself. Now that I drink our stouts out of this glass it's almost impossible to go back to a more standard pint glass format for me because of the aroma, the way it delivers the flavor from this glass, it's so vastly superior to anything that's out there. As I put my nose in I really just smell the malts, the roasty-ness, the richness of the malts, they just really jump up through the glass. I think a lot of the shape of the rim, the angle of the rim consolidates and concentrates the aromas and puts it right into your nose. To me, this is a revolution in glassware.
