Yes, it is true that these are a tight tight fit. However, I have some tips to save you from some of the headache of installing these. The first help is to take a half round file and give the inside edge of your post a little bit of filing. You don't have to go to town on this, just enough to give you some help with getting the nut to find its home. Had to hammer these into the tubing. Did not fit well. One rod actually flaked the chrome off.

Feet were slightly too large to fit the posts and could not be used. I contacted customer service and never received a reply. The paint on the shelves was chipped during shipment.

Not sure what the problem was with other reviewers, but you just hammer these in, it's easy and they fit perfectly. They should be tight

As another customer had mentioned, these nuts are about 1/16th of an inch too big to fit into the post. I understand it should be snug but it just isn't possible to fit without either grinding down the nut or splitting the post. I would return them but it isn't worth the cost of postage. I would not recommend this item. Now I have to go buy some plastic end caps to use instead.

I ordered the wire shelf (comes with the black sleeves), the metal posts, and the metal nuts/feet kit as separate items, because the whole shelf was not in stock for the size i needed. First, I had an issue with the conical sleeves that compress fit on the pole post. Two sleeves sheared as i tried to fit them on the pole. Luckily I had some spare from before. I do not know if the sleeves that shipped with the wire rack were of poor material quality, or the grooves on the post were too sharp at the edges. I have put similar shelves together in the past without any issues. Second, the brand advertised on the listing was REGENCY, but I couldn’t find any such branding on the packaging or on the product itself.
