It would be a good idea to smooth them out and it would help save the bag from getting torn. Needless to say, our bags have torn and you can't purchase another bag alone, you have to purchase the whole unit. What to do with the racks we have no use for? Disappointing. I called the manufacturer and they said they don't sell them separately. I am looking at having someone make the bags for me. If you aren't using the bags to transport, they are great!

Since purchasing our first bag, we've purchased an additional bag to help cover large orders. Often times, if some one orders more than 10 pizzas we'll simply fill the bag and send it with them so they can serve their pizzas as warm as possible - they are always thrilled with how well it works, as are we, absolutely brilliant purchase. We fit our 12" and 16" boxes in with ease, not sure how a larger pizza box would do.
