The grind on this coffee is perfect for pour over or french press. The flavor is dark and chocolate-heavy, but it has more acidity than most dark roasts, which makes the flavor a little brighter and more drinkable. This coffee drinks well with milk, but unlike a lot of dark roasts, it drinks really well plain too.

Very good for inexpensive coffee, we use this coffee for our free fun events and go through every lost drop, we do hot and iced coffees

Slap whatever words you want on it, this is a middling to poor coffee at best.

We brew this drip style 16:1, and it delivers excellent acidity for budget coffee. The flavor holds up well enough black, as well as with milk/cream/etc. We brewed a few 2:1 shots of espresso and it's easily passable for milk drinks and it is easily acceptable for most straight espresso drinkers. If you want a budget bean that can do lots of things, this is a good contender!

If could give it a zero star I would. The beans taste like they were roasted years ago. Sour flavor, no depth, old tasting. Do not recommend.

The royal reserve Guatemalan dark roast whole bean coffee is probably my favorite one only because i enjoy darker coffee. It has a great quality taste and brews clean and neat.

I cannot recommend this coffee to anyone. The beans appear dry and old, and the flavor is very sour. The package does not list the country of origin, type of beans, or roast date.

Empire coffee is a very low grade. I will not be ordering any more.. Are y'all get a lot better quality from a local roaster. My local customers and Europeans rave about the coffee I use now.

I don't drink coffee myself. I got this for a friend who usually buys the #10 can of other brand coffee thinking this would be much better. She said she ground it and used it in the same way she does the the other brand. She claims it was much stronger and contained more caffeine then what she is used too. After some quantity adjustments she tuned in her preferences and now purchases it instead of the pre ground in a can.

Very nice aroma before and while brewing. Oily bean but not too oily. Definitely a good buy for brewed coffee or use as an espresso

Such a great tasting dark roast coffee. A lot of darks roasts can leave that nasty gritty taste in your mouth but this one is real smooth no after taste.

If you have never tried these Guatemalan dark roast coffee beans you are missing out. This 2 pound bag will make coffee and chocolate covered coffee beans for my cakes.

Flavorful dark roast coffee. We use this bean in our espresso machine at home. The bean works perfectly, It’s the perfect balance of oil and dry bean. Tastes as good as the more expensive brands.

This coffee is okay, I wouldn't say its really a dark roast though. Seems to be more of a medium roast. Will probably not order again.

The Crown Beverages Royal Reserve Guatemalan Whole Bean Dark Roast is more of a medium roast than a dark roast but, it tastes great and it is inexpensive. Highly recommended for any buffet, cafeteria, residential and commercial kitchen.

This coffee has a very good bold coffee flavor though in my opinion is more of a medium roast then a dark roast. I love that you can buy single bags of many items on webstrauntstore.com to try before purchasing a whole case which is exactly what I did with this coffee.

A nice full bodied dark roast coffee in whole bean form. The beans were very fresh and firm. They grinded up wonderful into a nice French press style and brewed extremely well. I will buy again.

A decent dark roast coffee with a touch of bite. Probably my least favorite crown product, but still a great priced product that can be a great option for those customers look for a strong cup of joe.

Fast service, but very unhappy with the coffee. I drink a lot of coffee and this is old and unfavorable. I sadly bought 4 bags. It is not eligible for returns. For good coffee buy the Mezzaroma, not perfect, but much better.

It has fairly good balance and decent aroma. But when it comes to making the coffee it take just over half more for me. Coffee made with normal scoop portions comes out looking like tea and tasting very watery. I think they my have roasted too long because when I used twice as much I could taste the burn. I would not recommend this coffee
