Nu-Calgon 428734 Details
Scale deposits can wreak havoc on your ice machine, plugging distribution holes, restricting water flow, and eventually causing jams or shut-downs, so use this Nu-Calgon 4287-34 nickel-safe liquid ice machine cleaner to keep it running at peak efficiency! As your machine goes through the process of making ice, dissolved minerals will be precipitated out as scale deposits, which must be removed regularly to maintain peak efficiency. This cleaner uses a citric / phosphoric acid solution to dissolve away scale buildup so that your machine can work the way it was intended to, and it won't give off any harsh fumes in the process. Best of all, it's formulated to be safe on ice machines with tin- or nickel-plated evaporators, unlike some cleaners.
Application is a simple process, simply dilute to a rate of 3 fluid ounces per 1 gallon of warm water in a plastic container, and place scaled components (like the water trough, water curtains, and water distribution tube) in the container to soak. Use a brush to soften any stubborn deposits and clean other components where deposits have formed in the machine, rinsing those areas with fresh water.
To also clean the evaporator, add the solution to the ice maker water at the machine's recommended ratio (or 5 oz. per gallon of water) and allow it to circulate for about 10 minutes, going longer for stubborn deposits. After ensuring all distribution and weep holes are clear, drain the cleaning solution and flush with fresh water for 30 seconds minimum, and then plug the drain. Thoroughly rinse the bin with clean water after all components are cleaned.
