In addition to its rugged construction, this ice machine boasts smart electronics to help minimize service calls. The load monitoring system constantly checks the stress on the gearbox, and the built-in, non-contact ice detection fail safe automatic shutoff will shut the machine down before it can cause damage and necessitate costly repairs. An innovative water sensor also eliminates low and no water failures and is designed so that adverse water conditions cannot affect its reliability.

Using R-290A refrigerant, this ice machine is ideal for restaurants, bars, and hotels. If the bin or dispenser is wider than the ice machine, additional adapters, deflectors, and/or top kits may be necessary to join the machine to the bin. Please refer to the provided documentation on the ice machine and ice bin / dispenser product pages for more information.

Additionally, adapter and deflector kits can be used to match up ice machines with other types of bins / dispensers. I haven’t heard of R-290, R-600a, R-513a, or R-448A refrigerant before. What is it?

R-290 (also known as high purity propane or CARE 40) and R-600a (also known as refrigerant grade Isobutane or CARE 10) are hydrocarbon refrigerants. R513a (also known as Opteon XP10) and R-448A (also known as Solstice N40) are HFO (hydrofluoroolefin) refrigerants. They are being used by some manufacturers in response to the EPA’s Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) Program.

My ice machine has been shut down for awhile, how should I restart it?

If your ice machine has been shut down or not in use for a prolonged period time, please reference your machine's user-manual for a restart procedure, often called “Winterization." Please reference your user manual or contact customer service with any questions.

Should I buy an air-cooled or water-cooled ice machine?

Air-cooled ice machines are the most common choice. They're more energy-efficient and use much less water than a water-cooled model. Unless you are replacing an existing water-cooled unit or are operating under very high ambient temperatures, you probably will want an air-cooled unit. It's a great idea to check what your existing unit is before placing your order so that the installation of the new one will go smoothly!
