Blackstone 8001 22" Electric Tabletop Griddle with Hood

After 2 months of regular use the ceramic coating is chipping away from the griddle top. If this is used for occasional use, it may last longer than 2 months. But do not expect it to last if you are using frequently for large groups it will not last. Also, if the product does fail, Webstaurant will not handle the issue. Must go through Blackstone.

For starters, they heat evenly, and that's one major step above every other non-commercial electric griddle. This is my first Blackstone product, and I run 2 of them at my breakfast food pop up on the weekends. I get so many compliments on it from folks with the propane Blackstones. With 2 griddles going, I cooked 80 breakfast sandwiches in under 90 minutes last week. These things rock. You don't have to season the griddle surface because it's ceramic. It's super easy to clean, too. I get build up on mine from cooking spray, but you can scrub it right off with baking soda & vinegar. They do draw MASSIVE amounts of power @ 1600W. I sympathize with the negative reviewer, but they didn't have enough juice to power it. You need to plug it in directly to the wall, or if you use an extension cord, it needs to handle that much wattage. I have to have one extension cord for each of mine.

This product *cannot* hold temperature. I put chicken on it for a meal for 10-15 minutes and not only can I not get a sear on the chicken, but the grill struggles to stay at around 300 degrees even when it's been set to go back to 500. This problem is even worse if you close the lid, as well. The vapors from cooking cause moisture to get trapped inside, dropping the grill down even as low as 100 degrees or so. That and the griddle surface bends inwards when heated. Overall cannot recommend this product. The aesthetic is nice, and the interface is user friendly, but that's perhaps the only redeeming part of it. I would return this product if I could, it absolutely does not work as expected.
