When cooking fish fillets on grates, first heat the grill on high for around 10-15 minutes. Brush the grates with a wire grill brush. Then, coat the grates liberally with oil using a paper towel and tongs. Place your fish fillet diagonally on the grates. Close the grill and reduce the heat to medium, cooking for 2-4 minutes before trying to lift it up with tongs. If it sticks, allow it cook for 30 second intervals until it lifts off easily. Then, flip it over and close the grill for another 3-7 minutes. When it reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit, remove it from the grates for serving. When cooking fish fillets on a wooden plank, begin by soaking the plank in water for 2 hours. Then, place it on the grill with the fish fillet on top. Are all types of cedar suited for plank grilling?
We only recommend cooking and grilling with western red cedar. The high sap content in eastern cedar, white cedar, and inland cedar planks imparts a bitter flavor to foods and is unsanitary. Our cedar planks are cut from clear grade western red cedar, which produces superior flavor.
What is the best way to clean and care for my wooden item?
All wood products should be hand washed. The heat and chemicals of a dishwasher are harmful to wood’s naturally porous texture. If your product begins to show signs of wear, its finish can be restored with a food safe wood conditioner. First, clean and dry the wood. Then, apply the wood conditioner with a soft cloth or paper towel. Once the conditioner has soaked into the item, buff off any excess with a clean cloth. Having excess conditioner on a wood board will make it feel sticky or oily.
