Choice Food Prep 3/8" French Fry Cutter / Potato Cutter

Save your money and buy a better brand if you are using it for a commercial. The blade is too dull where you have to use extreme force to push through. My bargain for cheap end up costing more money at the end since this is an online order.

I love the heavy duty cast iron body of this cutter; unfortunately, the blade assembly is flimsy. I've been using it to cut apples. Granted, this is a French Fry cutter, so it's designed to cut potatoes, but anything that's strong enough to cut potatoes should be strong enough to cut apples which are considerably softer. In fact, if you search for apple cutters on this site, you'll see that most of the results are potato cutters. Anyway, I've used this three times, each time for around an hour and a half. In that time, I've gone through five blade assemblies. None of them have lasted longer than an hour. Tried the russet potato in the machine and found I needed to ram the potato with the handle maybe 3 or 4 times to get it to go entirely through the machine. Tried the Idaho potato and found it was much easier to ram it through the cutter. Mind you, this was all done while the machine is sitting on my kitchen table. The russet potato seemed to be a much denser potato, as to why it took a little more effort to pass through the cutter. I personally liked the flavor of the Idaho potato over the taste of the Russet potato because the russet taste a bit bitter to me when fried. Great fry cutter. The metal is very heavy & thick which keeps it strudy & prevents it from breaking quickly. The 1/2" cut is a perfect sized fry.

We have used this EVERY day for 4 years and counting. We've bought replacement slicing pieces but the thing works great. Everyone loves our french fries.

I really like this cutter. I bought it to make fries at home. It is sturdy, and having the rubber cups stops it from sliding. The 1/2" blade can cut even big russet potatoes, though it take s some force. I am fond of using small yellow potatoes to make stubby small fries. The cutter cuts then without much efford. I really like the cutter.

Made extra heavy duty.I have a 1/4 and a 3/8 inch blade and the 3/8 blade works a lot better than the 1/4 blade does. The small the blades the harder it is to push.I love it.

This fry cutter was much needed as cutting them by hand was just too much. We did our research and I’m so glad we did. We saw similar fry cutters at a big retailer that was almost 3 times the price. The one we purchased here is well made, easy to use and it’s made such a difference in the way we make fries. It’s such great quality. We plan on buying multiple size blades. If you’re on the fence, get it. You will not be sorry!

Works great. My fries are fantastic when using this. It does need to be attached to the wall if you are using it often though.

Great value for the price offered! It even works on sweet potatoes, we use it on a regular basis and it has yet to show any signs of wear and tear. It cleans up like a dream which makes life a lot easier.

I would give it 4 stars but the suction cups fall off. We mounted it to a cutting board and it has stood the test of having high school students use and abuse it.

This french fry cutter has saved me hundreds of dollars by being able to make my own fries. Plus, I don't need as much freezer space for frozen fries any more. The fasteners need periodic tightening. Very durable and is not showing any signs of wear or damage despite me always putting it away to air dry.

This item is useless with the 1/4" cutter. It mashes the potato before it will go thru the cutters. Took out some of the blades and now make 1/4" x 1/2" fries. It would be nice if they offered some sution cups with it to hold it on the countertop.

Not really happy with my potato cutter to be honest. My first problem is it arrived with the pain on the bottom left mount already being chipped. For a new item, not a good look. But really even before seeing that, even while opening the box I literally had unconnected screws that flew out to the floor as the box was being opened. I was expecting a fully built cutter, but I had to not only put on the handle, but track down where the other random screws went. Not really the biggest deal, just another kind of bad thing for the price. The functionality is okayish. It works, but your going to really have to pull hard to cut a potato. Definitely not for most older people. It is built well at least material wise, just hope yours isn't chipped badly when you get it. It does work, but your probably better off than a cheap plastic cutter, but you have better options out there.

Yeah, this is a life saver and a dream saver. I have always wanted to make 1/4 inch fries, but I only had a manual thick fry cutter that was hard to use. I have only used this one time, but it works like a dream. I hope the blade stays sharp, which I'm sure they will. I am a man, so it didn't take much force to do it. I am so happy with this basic machine.

This works best if you can mount it vertically to something sturdy so you can get full leverage when cutting large and/or firm potatoes. Works great for our application of making air fryer fries.
