What's In an Espresso Martini?
A traditional espresso martini is made with vodka, chilled espresso, and coffee liqueur. Despite its name, the espresso martini isn't a true martini. It doesn't contain gin or vermouth, but it's still a crowd-pleasing cocktail. Our frozen version is easy to whip up in a bar blender with some crushed ice.

Frozen Espresso Martini Recipe
When you make a frozen espresso martini, be sure to use a coffee concentrate with at least a 4:1 ratio so the coffee flavor comes through. If you use regular strength cold brew or espresso, it will taste watered down because of the ice. Adding a little bit of half-and-half or canned coconut milk gives it a hint of creaminess. Use crushed ice in your bar blender for the smoothest drink.
Yield: (2) 8-ounce servings
Ingredients
- 3 ounces strong espresso or cold brew concentrate (at least 4:1 concentrate)
- 2 ounces Kahlua
- 2 ounces vodka
- 1 ounce simple syrup
- 1 ounce half and half (or canned coconut milk for a non-dairy version)
- 2 cups crushed ice
- Coffee beans for garnish
Directions
- Add all liquid ingredients to blender jar.
- Top off with crushed ice and blend until smooth.
- Pour into two martini glasses or coupe glasses and add coffee beans for garnish.
