Microfiber Cleaning Products Guide

The Magic of Microfiber
Your Trick for Exceptional Cleaning
Microfiber technology has been around for nearly 20 years, but is only starting to catch on in the United States. Perhaps that's because many restaurant operators or managers who oversee cleaning operations simply aren't aware of all the benefits of switching to microfiber cleaning products, or are hesitant to change over!

Microfiber is a synthetic fiber made from a blend of polyester and polyamide. These fibers are one-sixteenth the size of a human hair, and are teardrop shaped. Because they are so small and so densely packed, the total amount of surface area per cloth, mitt, or mop head is many times greater than a comparably-sized cotton alternative. Products made from microfiber are superior to traditional cotton or synthetic materials for the following reasons:

Exceptional absorption: Because microfibers have such a high density and surface area, they can absorb up to seven times their weight in water! Cleaning up spills is a snap, and microfiber mops reduce the amount of water and chemicals needed to complete the job. Microfiber mops are a “backsaver” too-they're much lighter than regular cotton mops!

Exceptional dirt pick-up and retention: Microfiber materials are positively charged through the chemical process that manufacturers use to split the fibers. That means they're a magnet for negatively-charged dirt and dust! You'll spend less time simply pushing grime around. Pathogens, bacteria, and viruses will "stick" to a microfiber cloth or mop head until they're laundered out--a plus for hospitals, daycare operations, retirement communities, and restaurant kitchens. Since microfiber products are made of inorganic materials, pathogens have nothing to feed on either, unlike regular cotton products! Finally, microfiber mop heads and pads are often better at reaching into corners, grout lines, and other hard-to-reach spaces.

Exceptional money savings: Because microfiber products just "work" better than traditional alternatives, many users find they don't have to use nearly as much cleaning product and water to get the job done. Since microfiber products are so much more efficient, cleaning jobs won't take as long either, reducing labor costs. Using less water and harsh chemicals is also better for the environment!

Exceptional longevity and ease of use: Once a microfiber product is soiled, simply throw it in the wash! Most microfiber cloths, mops, and pads can withstand over 500 uses (use then launder), provided you follow two simple tips. First, don't use microfiber with or wash it with bleach or fabric softener. Bleach will degrade the material so it breaks down quicker and won't last as long. Second, fabric softener clings to and ultimately coats the microfiber, so it won't clean surfaces as well or rinse as thoroughly.
