This style of opener features two wings for controlled and safe operation and a geared mechanism for effortless cork extraction. The sharp point of the corkscrew can be used in lieu of a knife to remove any foil or wrapper that is around the neck of the bottle. To use, simply insert the corkscrew into the dead center of the cork and twist the handle until the two arms rise all the way up. Then push down on the two arms to smoothly and efficiently extract the cork from the wine bottle. With more expensive bottles of wine, the cork may be longer than the average size.
