I als find that the blades are not sharp enough, I've had experience with non-commercial grade mandolines that had much sharper blades than this one. I did manage to get it to work after some getting used to it though.

We purchased this product with the idea that using it would be ok without it breaking. First we did not have a straight blade, but customer service contacted the manufacturer and they sent us the missing blade. Once it arrived, we used the slicer for onions. The onions were not able to be used because they looked like they were falling apart and stringy. We have not used the slicer since.

This mandoline is great for any kind of cuts because of the adjustable knobs and blades. You can do a whole range of thicknesses and types of cuts.

This mandoline is good for lightweight items! Great for making fruit slaw! Easy to adjust and use safely! Affordable price for a tool that is built to last!!

I just received this mandolin today and am quite disappointed. The actually unit is great: sturdy, easy to clean, and stainless- steel( I think). Only problem is that the blades are not sharp enough! Whats gives? I was expected razor sharp blades that could at least cut a tomato cleanly but it just gets a horrible and unappealing cut. I hope I can get replacement blades that are actually sharp enough and free.

This is an excellent mandoline. I cant even begin to say how much time its saved me let alone how it makes our sliced produce look very good. I love it. great price.
