Cloves are the dried flower buds of the evergreen Caryaphyllus aromaticus Thunb. Regal Whole Cloves have a strong, pungent, and sweet taste.

Cloves add spicy depth to gingerbread, cookies, applesauce, muffins, cakes, and other sweets. It's a secret ingredient in barbecue and cocktail sauces. Grind and blend Whole Regal Cloves with maple syrup and drizzle over cooked sweet potatoes and winter squash. You can substitute these whole cloves for ground cloves if need be. It is not recommended to substitute whole for ground cloves for all recipes but on an as need basis; the substitution is 1/4 tsp ground cloves is equal to 3 whole cloves. Cloves can easily overpower a dish, particularly when ground, so use sparingly. Sold in a 6 oz. bottle.
