Regal bulk arrowroot powder is used as a thickening agent to make smooth sauces, fruit pie fillings, glazes, and puddings. Arrowroot has a similar appearance and texture to that of cornstarch, but arrowroot mixtures thicken at a lower temperature than mixtures made with flour or cornstarch. It will not gel when cooled, and it’s a popular choice for mixing with acidic liquids. White in color, with a light and soft consistency, arrowroot powder is extracted from the root of a West Indian plant, Marantha arundinaccea.
Mix arrowroot with cool liquids before adding hot liquids, then cook until the mixture thickens. Remove immediately to prevent the mixture from thinning. Two teaspoons of arrowroot can be substituted for 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, and one teaspoon of arrowroot can be substituted for 1 tablespoon of flour. Arrowroot makes clear, shimmering fruit jellies and prevents ice crystals from being formed in ice cream.

Regal Arrowroot Powder is an excellent thickener for gravy and sauces. We had not used arrowroot before and it took some trial and error to get the temperature right for the best results but now it is our "go to" thickener for gravies. Great product and I will order more!

This is a great buy for fruit sauces. It keeps them from being cloudy and there is no long cooking like you would normally endure when trying to get the cornstarch taste out of a really thick fruit sause.

My sister suggested this and we were not quite sure. But it is a great thickening agent for sauces and we love it. It doesn't take away any taste of whatever you are adding it to.

I have been experimenting with home-made ice cream. One of the recipes called for arrowroot. I was previously unfamiliar with the product, but I was very pleased when I saw it was available at the Webstaurant Store at such a great price!

I HAVE RECOMMENDED ARROWROOT TO SEVERAL OF MY FRIENDS WHO HAVE USED CORN STARCH AS A THICKENER. ARROWROOT LEAVES MY DISHES LOOKING ELEGANT BECAUSE OF THE NATURE OF STAYING CLEAR AT LOWER TEMPERATURES. PEPPER STEAK IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES AS WELL AS FISH DISHES SERVED WITH RICE (OR PASTA) THICKENED WITH CHICKEN BROTH AND ARROWROOT. COOKING LOOKS MORE GORMET AND TASTES GOOD.
