Wow! 1.3 hp is as much as my lawn mower! This can mix just about anything you want. If you don't need a giant floor Hobart then this is perfect.

We compared the features of KitchenAid mixers of 6qt, 7qt and 8qt sizes, decided on the 8qt Model KSM8990WH. After first use, we appreciate its features and details more. Here is why: 1. The 1.3hp motor is the largest among KitchenAid mixers. The fact that only a fraction of the 1.3hp power is delivered to or needed at the mixing shaft means the motor has plenty of reserve power and is ready to deliver upon spiking power demands. This reserve power margin also translates to longer service life of the motor; 2. The 8qt stainless steel bowl handles larger batch runs easily with less chance of a spill. The open handle allows for stacking when needed; 3. All included attachments – spiral dough hook, flat beater and wired whip – are made with stainless steel from head to toe, thus dishwasher safe. They are also NSF certified; 4. During kneading, the steady turning of the shaft and the low humming of motor gears are indications the mixer is handling the job with ease. In all, the 8qt KSM8990WH is a solidly built and well-proportioned unit. Only it did not come with a plastic pouring shield. There is an optional stainless steel guard that looks very restrictive. Luckily we found the plastic pouring shield from KitchenAid 600-series 6qt mixers also fits on the 8qt bowl.

The classic that is a tank and comes at a great price here at webstaurant store. I use this daily and it has been a lifesaver.

Love this Commercial Mixer, I currently have 3, the Artisan, Professional and now the Commercial. I have always have great luck with both of them, my only complaint was that I could not put my beaters in the dishwasher, NOT with this one. Honestly I had been fantasying about this model however there was logically no reason to justify the cost. I recently made a large batch of meatballs for my freezer, and (luckily I have a sense of humor) meat was flying all over my counter. (I had it on the lowest setting as well.) Later that evening (I assumed I had it all cleaned up) my husband stepped on raw hamburger meat and I had no choice but to explain my embarrassed moment (although I would love to see myself on tape, during the situation) I was using the 6 qt Professional mixer at the time. The next day, I'm all composed making hamburgers to freeze and a big chunk flew out onto the floor. I hated to throw out that much meat with the prices being so high. Well the next day I logged on and saw the larger 8 Qt. bowl Commercial on sale. I couldn't believe my luck, my husband had no problem with the expense after the hamburger squish between his toes. I love my other ones, but I must admit I think this one is gonna be my favorite. (Although I will never part with the other two.) There have been many times in the past that I have been using both simultaneously (making breads and pizza doughs etc...) I wouldn't be surprised if I don't have all 3 going at once here real soon. Love Her, and wouldn't part with her now that she is a part of the family....

I do a lot of baking (bread every week-end) and there are so many other things that it can be used for. I have had other KitchenAid stand mixers and have to say they worked extremely well. This machine, however, can do it all with ease. It is the quietest mixer I've ever had not that the noise coming from a running mixer bothers me, but it does demonstrate how well it's made and how strong it is. I have the pasta maker attachment (the one that extrudes) and even with that work out the machine barely, if at all, gets warm. There IS a label on the nose that states that KitchenAid attachments are not approved for commercial use, but that's not an issue for home. The price at the Webstaurant store is exceptional. Check prices elsewhere to find out. Bottom line, well worth the money...

I purchased this commercial KitchenAid and it works great, but everytime I even just barely touch the bowl to the mixer it scratches...I've only had it a couple of months but it looks old due to the scratches all over it, it works great but the paint on it is awful - was hoping it would look as good as it works, but it doesn't...for the price, disappointed.

REALLY like this after smoking the motor a bit on my 6 qt model after doubling some bread recipes. This takes it no problem!! It is also noticeably quieter than the 6 qt. It did arrive with a bad whip mixer right out of the box but a toll free call to KitchenAid and they replaced it no problem and at no cost. Also, the price was the very best at the WEBstaurant site! Even better than the cost of smaller models at other places! Great product and great service all around!

This mixer is excellent for commercial use. We opened a small bakery and have a large mixer. This one works well for small batches of bread.

Recieved this Kitchenaid Mixer on Dec. 5th 2013. Absolutely love it. It is quiet and I love the fact you can use 8 quart size bowl and 5 quart size bowl. Spend the extra amount of money to purchase this mixer because you will find there are times you need a bigger bowl to do larger amounts of what ever it is you make. I use both bowls because I do a lot of icing for cakes. I wish I new about this Kitchenaid 8 quart before, because I purchased a 7 quart Cuisinart(big mistake) it rocked all over my counter(very light weight). You won't be sorry buying this mixer!
