Commercial and fryer should not be used in the same sentence with this item. This fryer overall is built very light. But the baskets are impressive and well built. I checked the temperature for accuracy against my digital thermometer and here are the results. Set control for 370, the green light came on right at 370. Then I set control for 390 which is the highest setting. When set at 390, the green light came on at 384. After the green light came on at 384, I waited to see how hot the oil would get, and it topped out at 387 max, plenty hot enough to deep fry with. It seem to recover well and did a good job frying, french fries, breaded fish, breaded shrimp, and chicken wings for hot wings. That is as much as I have cooked with it thus far. A couple tips, I put aluminum foil over the entire control section when the green light comes on and just before I drop the baskets of food into the fryer. This keeps all the splatter off of the control panel. Also never, never, never, put fried food onto paper towels after frying, this just lets the food soak in its own grease. Always put your fried food onto a cookie cooling rack. Place your cookie cooling rack on top of a baking pan etc and this will catch any oil drips. This works great for fries, fish, and all your deep fried items. I always set my fryer at 390 which is the highest setting. I believe this helps to accommodate the temperature drop when frozen foods are added. The basket handles are bent at a 45 degree angle which for me, makes them a little awkward to handle. An easy fix, place them in a vice and bend them at a 90 degree angle, but be careful not to break anything! Pay special attention to what you are prying on, if you do this! I just could not give this five stars because of the light build of the unit. But so far it has performed well and I have no complaints about it, beyond what I have said!

We have a large family so we were in desperate need of a large capacity deep fryer. The Waring WDF1000 is perfect. We started using it the very next day and we use it at least 2 times a week. It's wonderful for fries, fried okra, corn dogs, and anything you want to fry. The two smaller baskets are wonderful for frying two separate items at once and the larger basket is perfect for fries for the whole family in less than 10 minutes. Clean up is very easy.

I was a little disappointed at first. It's made in China, the two small baskets were a little smaller than I expected and the whole unit is lighter than I expected. But after using it for several batches of fries and a batch of breaded frozen catfish, I've come to like it a lot. The temp control makes double-frying french fries an easy task. Bring temp to 330, drop fries for 3 minutes, raise baskets and bring temp to 370 and drop fries for 4 minutes and you're done. Recovery time is decent except when using frozen foods. Might want to use a higher temp in the case of frozen items. Loading the two small baskets to the max line will easily give you enough fries for four people or more. One of the small baskets full yields a full dinner plate of fries. The max fill lines on the baskets and the oil container are much appreciated for safety reasons. Cleaning is also relatively easy. Could it be better? Sure, that's why I gave it a 4 and not 5. A beeping tone in addition to the ready temp light would be nice.
