R-290 (also known as high purity propane or CARE 40) and R-600a (also known as refrigerant grade Isobutane or CARE 10) are hydrocarbon refrigerants. R513a (also known as Opteon XP10) and R-448A (also known as Solstice N40) are HFO (hydrofluoroolefin) refrigerants. They are being used by some manufacturers in response to the EPA’s Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) Program.

What is Galfan coating?

With a heavy-duty, reinforced 300 series stainless steel top surface, this unit is designed to hold countertop equipment for easy access and increased storage. Plus, its drip-resistant V edge prevents spills from dripping over the edge, so your floor remains safe and dry. This particular model features an overhang on each side, providing a larger surface in the same footprint as a standard model. The design also allows the unit to hold larger cooking equipment.

The refrigerated base is perfect for keeping cold food at safe holding temperatures prior to cooking. Since the base keeps food stored right at the location where it will be cooked, your staff can save time when it comes to locating supplies and reduce the number of trips they need to make to your storage area during a shift. By saving time and reducing labor, this chef base helps your kitchen run more efficiently. The convenient exterior digital temperature display makes it easy to monitor the temperature inside the unit without opening the drawers to check.

The construction of this unit is designed with commercial use in mind. It features a stainless steel front, top, and sides, as well as a corrosion-resistant GalFan coated steel back. The white aluminum interior with stainless steel floor has coved corners and is fortified with foamed-in-place polyurethane insulation that helps provide structural rigidity and maintain internal temperatures. The insulation also helps to promote proper temperature retention.

With countertop equipment placed on top of the unit, this chef base provides both space to store product and space to prepare it, all in the same convenient footprint. This unit comes with four separate drawers. Each of the left drawers can accommodate three full size food pans, while each of the right drawers can accommodate two full size food pans (pans sold separately). The rollers, slides, and magnetic gaskets of the drawers are removable without tools. Recessed handles ensure ease of use.

The (6) 4" plate casters aid in maneuverability and make the unit easy to move for cleaning. Plus, the front casters lock to keep the base in place when in use. High-quality performance is made possible by the unit's 1/3 hp refrigeration system, which maintains temperatures between 33 and 38 degrees Fahrenheit using R-290 refrigerant. This specialized refrigerant has an ozone depletion potential (ODP) of 0 and a global warming potential (GWP) of 3. For operation, the chef base requires a 115V electrical connection.
