For ultimate durability, it is IPX7 rated for water resistance.

The thermometer boasts incredible accuracy of +/- 1% of a temperature reading or 1 degree Fahrenheit (1 degree Celsius). If temperatures are lower or higher than the acceptable range, the screen will display "Hi" or "Lo". This unit also has an auto shut-off feature to preserve battery life after 10 minutes. Featuring the option to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius temperature readings, this thermocouple has customization abilities for all your specific kitchen needs.

This thermometer has a 1.5 mm diameter step down probe, which is thinner than most non-FDA recommended probe thermometers.
